How do i determine ° of ceiling slope

Asked by: lm
Most ceilings will have a lie of less than 30 degrees, which is the max angle for most ceiling fans without the use of a sloped ceiling canopy kit. If you need to find the exact angle, we would suggest using an online "sloped ceiling angle calculator".

Has there been a problem with the Blade arms breaking on this fan installed outdoors ?

I have two fans installed on an outside porch ,and all 10 blade arms sagged and cracked I believe due to the weight of the blades. Then one on each fan went flying off. I would like to replace the blade arms and put the fans back in service, but if the new arms are not constructed more durable then I think I will be wasting my time and money.
Asked by: Welby
You didn't say if the fans were out in the weather. Ours is under a porch and gets quite a bit of wind from the south on it, and some rain blowing in. I have not noticed any blades sagging. Maybe the mounting screws came loose and the blades sagged, cracked and flew off. You can try replacing the blades on one fan and see if it solves your problem, but I myself, would get a new one. I love the looks of this fan outdoors. It's quiet, and looks like a summer veranda on our porch. Ask a sales clerk if your location will work for the fan. I find everyone of them is knowledgeable about their product.

Hi DB. Thank you for your interest in the Nassau fan. Yes, this fan is compatible with an extension downrod. The downrod should be .75" (3/4 in) diameter for proper installation.

Nassau 52 in. Natural Iron Indoor/Outdoor Ceiling Fan is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 604.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it so much we bought 2! The first one we put in our bedroom the second one in our formal living room. My husband and I debated on putting a fan in the formal living room. He wanted a fan and I wanted "pretty" so I purchased a beautiful light fixture (bowl style) that had metal leaves and crystals and he figured out how to make it work! It's beautiful! So far it works great but it does make a low buzzing sound now, but it's not very loud. we have had it about 6 months. I know it is not going to be recommended but I thought you might like to know it can be done. My husband is a master electrician and it wasn't a problem with him. I really love it!

I was really dis~appointed in the quality of this fans blades & the light fixture. I have another ceiling fan with the palm leaf design & this one looks no where near the quality of my other fan. The light fixture looks cheap to me so will be looking for another light fixture to repalce the one it comes with. The fan also wobbles all over the place even with the weights attached to it. I wasn't home when my sweet husband put it up for I couldn't return it. I have since had him take this one down & move it to a bedroom & bought a much nicer quality fan at about the same price to put up in place of this one that was in my livingroom.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very attractive fans with ... I ordered two on line. I assembled the first one to find that the fan blade mounts were too deep in the housing so the blade brackets rubbed against the housing. The mounting holes should be flush with the housing. Disassembled same and returned to HD store and another one was ordered. HD return was easy. Anyway, assembled the second while waiting for the replacement. Assembly was fairly easy but I installed fan brackets first then the fan blades last rather then brackets to blades to mounts as per instructions. The new fan arrived within a week and I installed it per revised procedure. The fan mounts were recessed into the housing (not as deep as the first but more than the second) and installation per instructions would have been much more difficult. Two observations, Construction quality consistency may be a problem The fans move an adequate amount of air but not as much as similar 52" fans I have. Anyway, they do look great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase! I've had this fan on back porch (screened patio) for about 3 years now. I love it! It looks great and has worked perfect. I live in FLA with tons of heat and humidity and it hasn't affected this fan at all. I can't speak to install as I had my handman put it in but otherwise, I can't say enough good things about it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Recommended with some reservations An eye pleasing product, fairly easy to install but quality control could use some beefing up. I bought two of these. The first one made a scratching noise post installation. I figured out that the fan blade mounting screws were too long and were scraping the motor housing. I removed the screws and added a thick lock washer to each eliminating the too long condition. Not quite perfect as I still hear an occasional scrape. The other one was quiet from the beginning - no washers required. Fan two wobbled and adding weights did not correct the situation. I opened it up again and realized I did not seat the keyed ball down rod completely into the slot. Problem fixed, my error. This one runs quiet and true. Pull switches on both fans feel cheap and pull awkward due to the manufacturer's offset loops to guide the chains away from the glass globes. There has got to be a better way to do this, but they haven't figured it out. So again, a nice looking product with OK quality, considering the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blades sag down after a couple of years The blades sag a couple of years after installation making the fan look bad. It is supposed to be and indoor/outdoor model, mine were installed outdoors. The blades are made of a composite material making them impossible to withstand high heat and humidity.

The simulated palm leave fan blades add a touch of class to our modern covered patio. Easy to install and works well. I added a dimmer to the light switch that allows for a lower light level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks and works great Had an electrician install it since it required a new line, but I watched and am sure I could have done the assembly and setup myself. Outdoor use, but gets good air circulation with no blade wobble.
