I was looking for ceiling fans to replace high end Homestead fans that were purchased 25 years ago! This fan seems to fit the bill. It has 4 standard bulb sockets (medium base), and can use incandescent bulbs instead of CFL. I purchased two of these fans. Both are operating very smoothly (no wobble at all, and not need for fan balance kit... which each fan included a balance kit). I used 4 standard 60 watt bulb, and installed a remote dimmer switch to control light output. The dimmer switches also have fan speed controls. The fans move quite a bit of air, even in reverse (winter mode). I am very satisfied so far with these fans, which were installed a few weeks ago. The only thing I did not like was that the fan blades themselves are of a lower quality than my previous fans.

We purchased this to replace a Hunter fan that we had for years and worked well until about a year ago when suddenly the lights would turn off and the fan would start up. I was looking for something similar in color but wanted more than the 3 lights that are typical in ceiling fans now. I was looking for one with a remote control but couldn't find one that was the right color, remote control and 4 lights. So this was the next best thing. I love that the light take the medium bulb. It is brighter than the Hunter fan was. Overall, I would recommend.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0Â by nightraven Great fan but...
This is a great fan. Over a period of a couple years I added 5 of these fans through out my house to upgrade the existing fans but had to do it in phases to keep costs under control. Anyway, the first 4 fans used a regular light bulb socket known as a medium base. The last one I ordered came with a new style light bulb that uses whats called an intermediate base. That is just great if you can actually find these darn bulbs. There is no LED version of this bulb and I cant even find a regular bulb at HD that works. I am trying to order a older replacement light kit so that I can convert this new style back to the old tried n true which there are so many LEDs and CFLs out there. A bit disappointed with this! Other than that these fans have worked flawlessly over the years.

This fan was replacement for existing one that provided many years of almost non-stop good service, but eventually quit working. Took awhile to find a replacement that had appearance I was seeking. Not initially sold on bronze, but liked style of this fan and now that it is installed, I am very pleased with the bronze finish. Had some difficulty with installation, but it had to do with bracket for hanging the fan. Eventually had to keep and use the old bracket from the previous fan. Seems to be working just fine.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by RKBA1963 Great fan that still uses medium based bulbs
We needed to replace two ceiling fans in our mountain house and I needed the most light possbile. If you are a homeowner who has not had to buy fans in many years, you may be coming up against the new government regulations as to how much wattage a fan can use, when you total up the fan motor itself & the light bulbs. As of this review, and as it's stated in the description, the light kit included does use four medium based bulbs (regular old light bulbs), however, to meet the regulations, they include four CFL light bulbs to minimize the total wattage it uses. We had just invested in the Cree LED 60-watt bulbs for exisiting fans and wanted to use them in the new fans, as too many today, use the small candleabra base bulbs, which you can not get in 60-watt. So, we put these up and are using the Cree LED bulbs with no problems at all. When installing the light fixture kit, I did not see the little box that restricts the wattage that you read about on the WEB. In some cases, people bypass those so they can use regular incadescent bulbs. That being said, you *might* be able to use regular 60-watt bulbs as I have a couple other fans that I purchased with CFL, that worked out of the box with no problem. As they say, your mileage may vary.
The fans are quiet and neither of them required any balancing as uber smooth on all three speeds. If you are going from a white or clear light globe to these, you will notice a little less light coming out since they are off white. Another thing I liked is they come with an additional 48 inches of installation wire, which allows you to go up to a 48 inch down rod with out having to buy any extra.
All in all, they were exactly what we were looking for in color, balance, and being able to use the medium based bulbs and would not hesitate to buy them again. They seem like a good value as this pirce point for a fan.
