Answer:
3 speeds, operated via chain. You can also install a remote wall switch which can control fan speed and also dim the lights (if using incandescent bulbs instead of the CFLs that are included with the fan)

Hey csb22,
As with almost every ceiling fan we and the industry sells, this one included is a 3 speed fan, not counting the off position.

Can this product be installed with a dimmable switch for the light or fan (or both)?

Can this product be installed with a dimmable switch for the light or fan (or both)? I'd like to use the wall switch (not a remote) but have tall ceilings so ideally I'd be able to use a dimmer switch on the wall. Can a dimmer be used for the fan and the light?

Thanks!

Answer:
A dimmer for the light is okay to use as long as the bulbs are LED or Incandescent bulbs. The fan on the hand will need a variable speed switch, not a slider switch, to control the speeds(slider switch will burn out the fan speeds). You can call our customer care at 877-902-5588 for any additional questions regarding this model.

Hi Kkorbs, I found a switch that you can use to control the speed of the fan, however the light is only on or off. Maybe this will work for you. It works with dimmable CFL's.

Answer:
Hi Kkorbs, most companies only make a switch with dimmer for incandescent or halogen bulbs, not CFL. The one that makes a switch for CFL is for a 3 way switch, not a single pole switch. If you were to choose a fan using incandescent or halogen bulbs, you could get a Lutron brand switch.

Oakley 52 in. Oil-Brushed Bronze Ceiling Fan is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Noisy! This fan produced a clicking noise while operating on the 2ND speed. I had to remove and exchange it. Sadly, the new one has the same problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Noisy. This fan gives off a noisy clicking sound when operating on the second speed. Unfortunately the second speed is the only setting that is useful in most circumstances. I returned the first fan thinking the problem was only for that particular fan, however the second one also had the same issues. Not to mention, it was obvious the first one had already been returned by a disgruntled previous owner who probably couldn't stand the noisiness of this fan either. Don't buy this fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just as described I read all the reviews on this and other fans of this price range and higher. This fan was delivered just as pictured, no surprises. I have only had it a week or so, but so far it operates quietly & lighting is good. Takes standard sized bulbs, which is key since my builder installed fans take international bulbs(VERY hard to find)! 4 CFL standard bulbs ARE included! I purchased it for above my kitchen eating area, and it fits just right. Nice quality for the price. Pleased...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Noisy. I had to remove and return the fan after installation because it produced a clicking noise while operating in 2nd speed. The exchanged one ,obviously a returned and repacked one, had exactly the same problem. This is a manufacturer's defect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pretty and quiet Love it! Very pretty and gives out a lot of light which we needed in this room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Product - - with some issues Installation went well up to attaching the light fixture - specifically step 12 "Attaching the light kit mounting plate to the mounting ring." There are 3 screws involved in this step. One screw is to be removed and the other two need to be loosened so the key holes in the light kit mounting plate can slip over the screw heads and then the light kit mounting plate is rotated to lock it into the keyhole. Last, the screw that was removed had to be reinstalled. The issue was that the two screws that needed to be loosened were screwed in so tightly that they were past the threads and would not catch to unscrew. It took removing the blades and then another 45 minutes worked to get those two screws "loosened" before this simple step could be completed. I have had at least 5 other Oakley fans and this is the first time I have run into this or any other problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fan that still uses medium based bulbs We needed to replace two ceiling fans in our mountain house and I needed the most light possbile. If you are a homeowner who has not had to buy fans in many years, you may be coming up against the new government regulations as to how much wattage a fan can use, when you total up the fan motor itself & the light bulbs. As of this review, and as it's stated in the description, the light kit included does use four medium based bulbs (regular old light bulbs), however, to meet the regulations, they include four CFL light bulbs to minimize the total wattage it uses. We had just invested in the Cree LED 60-watt bulbs for exisiting fans and wanted to use them in the new fans, as too many today, use the small candleabra base bulbs, which you can not get in 60-watt. So, we put these up and are using the Cree LED bulbs with no problems at all. When installing the light fixture kit, I did not see the little box that restricts the wattage that you read about on the WEB. In some cases, people bypass those so they can use regular incadescent bulbs. That being said, you *might* be able to use regular 60-watt bulbs as I have a couple other fans that I purchased with CFL, that worked out of the box with no problem. As they say, your mileage may vary. The fans are quiet and neither of them required any balancing as uber smooth on all three speeds. If you are going from a white or clear light globe to these, you will notice a little less light coming out since they are off white. Another thing I liked is they come with an additional 48 inches of installation wire, which allows you to go up to a 48 inch down rod with out having to buy any extra. All in all, they were exactly what we were looking for in color, balance, and being able to use the medium based bulbs and would not hesitate to buy them again. They seem like a good value as this pirce point for a fan.
