Installation was typical of most fans...pretty simple, especially if you've installed one before.
The four 9-watt CFL bulbs supplied with the fan were too bright for my application, so I chose to replace them with Philips 11-Watt Incandescent Frosted Sign Lamp Bulbs (Home Depot Model # 416727, Internet # 202752357) which create the soft mood lighting I was looking for on the patio. The cool thing about these bulbs is that they make the each shade glow with a similar intensity to that of the accent light at the top of the fixture. I just wish there was a way to control the upper and lower lights separately, instead of having only all on or all off. The pitch of the blades seems slightly more shallow than many fans, so they don't seem to move a high volume of air, but this may be a feature for outdoor use so that the fan isn't affected as badly by wind.

I am really enjoying this new fan. My husband installed it in a high vaulted ceiling replacing our previous Hampton Bay Romanesque fan that was apparently damaged by lightening. (He has since taken it apart and located the melted control box and ordered a replacement part! :) ) This Oglethorpe fan gives plenty of light as well as airflow. The only downside was that I didn't think to order a longer downrod to accommodate the higher ceiling at the same time. My husband had to make a separate trip to a nearby Home Depot to buy one and it does not have the same finish.

Got delivered faster after order and was able to install with little issues. I have low ceiling so installation was without rod.....was little hard to hold motor unit while installation and took 3 attempts before was able to fit properly.....My house was wired to have 2 switches (1 for fan and 1 for light) but with this fan one is of no use as both light and fan us controlled by remote only......light cups are little harder to install.........Other than this we love this fan.
Oh also color of the blades do not match with picture online or on the box....beware!!

After looking for a while we decided to purchase this fan because the remote will reverse the blade direction which a lot of fans we looked at didn't. We put it in our great room with cathedral ceilings and it circulates the air great on low or medium depending on how much air movement we want. We like the amount of light it produces also without the glare. We have neutral tones so the fan looks great. We purchased it at a special price and none of the competitors were able to come close to the price. Fan is quiet with no wobble. Highly recommend.

Over all this fan came in quick, is nice looking and has a remote. I installed it quickly but the receiver for the remote popped as soon as I turned on the power. I had a spare so I got the fan working. I've called, left messages and emailed the CS for assistance. After two more tries today I was able to get a hold of someone and they said send a copy of my receipt or it would be $42. I'd advise anyone that has to buy a remote control unit to get it at HD it's MUCH cheaper.

I purchased one of these ceiling fans last winter when I was remoldeling my dining room. This fan is huge, and I have a pretty big dining room. The air that comes from this fan is wonderful. It is very easy to use, since it comes with a remote. You can feel the air from th fan if you are sitting in the next room. This fan takes the pressure off me purchasing another air conditioner for the dining room. Anyone who purchases this fan will love not only how comfortable it makes the room feel, but also the beauty of it. Thanks

I wanted a fan with the most light output since it's the only source of light in the room. This one works nicely. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a dimmer. I searched by fans that had remotes included, but this one and almost all of them really just have remote kits included that aren't pre-wired so don't let the lack of a remote included eliminate a choice other than the additional $40 or so to buy a kit.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 1019Jim Installing the glassware on the light kit.
Everything was going great until it was time to install the globes on the light kit. The threads on the light kit are ceramic and the nut is plastic. The threads are not smooth and the nut is very hard to screw on. Add to that the very small opening between the nut and the glassware. Can't get fingers in such a tight spot. Used pliers backwards. Needed a tool or spacer to help install plastic nut to get glassware tight enough not to rattle. Very poorly designed. Other than that the fan is fine.
