Yes it can be mounted with globes pointing downward. The socket has a retaining ring which screws down on the globe after you slip it over the socket. The backplate has screws on both the top and bottom which hold it to the mounting plate underneath. You simply reverse the orientation of the backplate as it is positioned on the mounting plate. Answer:
Yes, I think you can do that. However, pointing them up creates more light because it bounces off the ceiling. They are very bright, so you may not want them pointing down.

To use an Led bulb, you would have to find an adapter wich " plugs" into the present G9 socket and has a traditional female socket on the other end for the size Led bulb you want. They are available mostly on the internet and your choices are limited. Your other choice is to find an actual G9 Led buld which plugs into the socket on the fixture. Answer:
G9 LED lamps can be used. I don't think they make them in 60w equivalent so they would not be as bright.

Answer:
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. I believe the best advice would be to follow the manufacturer's recommendations. This fixture takes a G9 bi-pin bulb, which would be a halogen bulb. For any other questions, please call us at HomeDepot.com Customer Service 800-430-3376. Thank you for shopping Home Depot.

Answer:
I've had these lights for about a year, and I haven't noticed any rust yet. I'd suggest making sure you always run your fan when you take a shower to mitigate this happening.

Answer:
I have mine on a regular incandescent dimmer. Halogen lamps are incandescent lamps with a buffer gas.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Light-brilliant! This light is very elegant and looks terrific! I was really surprised at how bright it was. Works great for those of us who need a little more light when putting on makeup.... July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect! This light is amazing - bright (very), pretty, and is perfect in my smaller, window-less guest bathroom. I like it so much that I'm ordering another one for my master bath remodel. June 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice and bright! Love the amountof light this fixture gives off in our dark bathroom! Perfect for putting on makeup! September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this light fixture I had this installed with a dimmer. Love the ambience when on low. January 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by beautiful! Perfect style for our main bathroom. Looks more expensive than it was. Only problem with installation was that we had to hold it above the vanity, which was not easy for us. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very pretty I love the look of this updated take on dressing room lights. The shimmer of the crystal and the reflection on the mirror gives off enough light to brighten my darker windowless bath. I had an electrician install, so I cannot comment on ease of installation. May 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful but blinding We were replacing an eight light vanity light from the 1980s so we bought two of these. They look great. However, when we flipped on the power, we were overwhelmed by the brightness. It was like something out of National Lampoon's Christmas vacation movie. We had to go back to the store for lower wattage bulbs and once they were installed everything was great. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very classy This looks better than expected and gives my bathroom a very nice touch. May 14, 2016
