lighting and remote for the fan

What is the lighting (how many bulbs) the room has no windows is it bright? also what remote does Hamilton Bay recommend for this fan.
Asked by: West
The fan comes with three 14 Watt CFL bulbs. They are not exceptionally bright, but you could easily replace them with daylight bright LED bulbs which would give off much more light for the same wattage or less. As for remotes, take a look at the Hampton Bay Model # 68108, which Home Depot carries.

Can you purchase a longer down rod for this fan in this color? Is this fan ok to have a long down rod?

Asked by: Chasity
Hi Chasity. Thank you for your interest in the Palisades fan. At this time an extension downrod is not available in the Tuscan Bisque finish. The closest match would be an oil rubbed bronze or "new bronze" downrod. The important thing to note is that the downrod must be a 3/4" diameter downrod for proper installation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall a very attractive fan that moves a lot of air! There are two methods in the installation of this fan and instructions and parts to do either one you choose. Those methods are "standard" and "close-to-ceiling" mount. I chose the latter because of the location of install and ceiling height. I had to do a bunch of remodeling in order to fit and operate the fan just the way I wanted (i.e. reinforce the ceiling box and add an additional switch to control the fan portion and lights separate). The fan and lights can be controlled with one switch as it has pull chains for each but I wanted more control. After this task was complete the overall installation of the fan was relatively simple. I needed help holding the motor housing up close to the ceiling as I wired it but otherwise all else was manageable on my own. This fan seems well built with solid construction and expect many years from it. It also comes with blade balancers which is helpful to take away any vibrations. The light it produces is a nice soft light being very pleasant for the master bedroom in which I installed it. There was one little nick on the blade finish side (there are two finishes, reversible) I chose to use but not too noticeable to return. Otherwise everything appeared to be packaged really well and all parts that I needed to complete were included. Makes a very elegant statement in our master bedroom and compliments the cherry furnishings we currently have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Could have been better Installed myself, replacing existing fan. Hamoton Bay does not make matching down rod for this item. Had to buy competitors product. Not impressed with either side of fan blade. Looks and felt cheap, had to stain one side to cover nicks before installation. It is quiet and did not require the enclosed balance kit. Good looking fan in our bedroom, needs a little more QC from the manufacturer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Ceiling Fan-Heavy Duty We have a hot-tub room attached to our house. We had an old 1991 vintage ceiling fan that was never great to begin with, and 21 years has not been kind to it. We got this Hampton Bay 52-inch fan to replace that old one. Besides being beautiful, the Hampton Bay is rated for outdoor use which will be perfect for the hot-tub room. Assembly is not difficult, but does require reading the directions, which were well written. The unit is fairly heavy compared to our old, cheap one, so it should hold up well in the future, and it comes with a Lifetime Warranty. We are very happy with this fan! Also, if you want, you can make this a flush mount, or buy an optional down-rod to make it hang lower, which I thought was a nice feature!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally, a breeze in the room where we spend the most time. The breeze from a ceiling fan makes all the difference on a warm day, and in southern California we experience a few 85-degree-plus days every month. With this 52" fan in our kitchen/family room, comfort is a gentle tug away. The fan produces no sound of its own, nor is there any telltale vibration or buzz when you hold the chain, so you really have to count the number of pulls to be certain it's on the speed you want or switched off. On high, the breeze is strong if a bit choppy while medium speed delivers a more stable airflow. While I couldn't totally eliminate a slight wobble at high speed, the balancing kit brought the wobble down to an acceptable quarter-inch, just noticeable if you're staring at the fan. Medium and low speed produce no wobble. Despite the lamp bowl's beige tint, the light it casts is pleasing, even with the three included 14-watt twisty CFL bulbs. My handyman brother-in-law and his stepson said the installation was easier than most ceiling fans they had put up, even with some of the challenging wiring in our walls. The styling is best admired from a distance, as close inspection betrays the nature of the plastic parts, but then, what ISN'T made of plastic these days? Overall, it's a welcome addition and another step toward transforming our house into La Casa de Las Brisas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice quiet breeze My husband installed this fan by himself. We did not use the extension rod and I think that is one of the reasons the fan is whisper quiet. (no shaking). The look is not ornate rather classy. The fan is made very well and the cost is excellent. I highly recommend this purchase.
