Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by NightDiver2 Nice Fan but Poor Assembly Instructions
I purchased this fan to install in a 10x12 room despite the mixed reviews. The fan has a nice appearance and provides the air flow we wanted. The instructions are not well written and required some thinking on how it should be assembled by looking at the assembly diagram. In hind sight it would have been far easier to assemble the fan on the floor and then leave one blade off to allow connecting the wiring after hanging the fan in the preinstalled ceiling ball bracket. Then just connect the wiring, install the ceiling flange cup and install the last fan blade.
After I installed the fan, we decided we wanted a light on the bottom of the fan (the fan was prewired for a fan light). When I installed the fan light kit, which was also made by Hampton Bay the lights would not turn on. I tested the light kit on its own and it worked fine but when connected to the fan wiring it didn't work. I then tested the wiring supplied on the fan and found the blue wire defective. At this point in time I spent 4 hours on the fan/light installation. I didn't want to remove the fan, disassemble it and take it back to the store and get another one and start all over again so I spliced into the fan black wiring to make the fan light kit work as it should have from the beginning. If it wasn't for the defective fan wiring and the poor assembly directions the fan/light could be installed in less than 2 hours.
In contrast, if you want just a fan for a small room then this is it. Otherwise if you want to add a light kit, it would be better to purchase the fan with a light already installed/pre-tested rather than wasting your time going through the ordeal I had unless of course you like a challenge and have some mechanical/electrical experience.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by SNJ749 Nice Looking But Poor Breeze
We have a fairly small screened patio (approx 9x12) so I thought based on the recommendations on the box + 4800 air flow this would be a decent fan for the hot summer weather, but the airflow is pretty poor. You can really only feel the breeze from the fan if sitting in one particular spot right under it. I don't think this is really 4800 cfm because we have a 5000 cfm fan in one of our bedrooms of similar size and that one puts off great air even on the lower settings. Will have to uninstall and return this one, unfortunately. Don't recommend this fan except for in very small spaces. It is nice looking, though, and feels pretty sturdy & like it'd hold up well outdoors.

After reading all the reviews I decided to look further at Home Depot online. I found the identical fan with a light attached for $20 less than this fan and separate light kit. I returned the three fans and lights I had bought and bought three more of the updated ones. I have installed one and I love it.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Knikwind Poor performance, blades dislodged
I have only used this fan 3 times as it moved so little air as to be almost useless. This past winter somehow the fan blades loosened and this spring 2 blades were hanging down 10-20 degrees below horizontal. I took hold of one to see why it was loose and it came off. A significant disasemble is required to reinstall the blade and hard to get at. I had a professional electrician install the fan and am not willing to spend any more on this poor quality fan. Don't buy it!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by SaraattheBeach Great patio fan
We purchased 2 for our back porch. Didn't find installation difficult but we received all of the correct parts in our boxes and my husband is very handy. We purchased 2 because of the size of our screened in porch, so airflow has been great. Very attractive, received lots of compliments. We also purchased on sale, but even the regular price was not that bad.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 1HandyMan Poor design, poor instructions, poor airflow, great looks
The fan does look nice hanging on the back porch. However, it is a nightmare to install. The instructions are incomplete and confusing. This fan is not compatible with Hunter brand extensions, despite what the salesperson at Home Depot said. The blade attachment is ridiculous. They are screwed in via a rubber gasket in the top of the light plate. The fan attachment screws only turn enough to engage one or two threads. The airflow is minimal. I have installed several ceiling fans, this was by far the most awkward to hang. The only thing that may save the fan for me is that it took so long to install, I hate to take it down to return it.
