No! The way the model with the light kit functions is power comes from the house AC to the wireless receiver to the fan into the Light Kit / Reversible Fan Motor Switch, and back from that light kit / reversible fan motor kit to the fan motor to the wireless receiver and back to the house AC. I actually wanted to follow the excellent "Chinese" manual and do just what it told me to do, which is after you attach the fan blades and BEFORE you attach the light kit, to check the fan blade balancing and make sure all blades are within 1/8th of an inch of one another. After doing that, then you are told to "Test the Fan"... so I tried and naturally it would not turn on. I was going to return it to home depot as a lemon when it dawned on me to try the light kit with it, lo and behold the fan worked. My motor is bent slightly so the fan makes a grinding noise and wobbles. I called the manufacturer, their using a 3rd party company to take all the consumer calls. The call agent asked how long I've had the unit #less than 3 days# and told me to take it back to the store I bought it at and swap it out. I'll be doing that, and I'd be swapping to another brand but I already have another one of these units in my living room and honestly I love it #I can barely hear the motor over the air movement even if the fan is set to "High", and I have to be LISTENING for it as I stand RIGHT under it#. As with anything, I'm chalking my bad "lemon" up to simple bad shipping. The packaging was excellent #foam enclosure# so I'm honestly not sure how it got damaged #the box had a few dings in it but no punctures and I didn't notice any real damage to the shipping box#. Asides that it's a gorgeous fan and I can't wait for the replacement. Read Less

Yes, you can install it without the light kit. All the proper parts are included for this type of install.
You will still have a remote to control the upper lights decorative feature and the fan speeds.

Yes, it's a great looking fan even without the light kit. The bowl above the fan is also a light and has a dimmer on it so it looks very nice, on or off.

Yes, that is what you would call a night light as it does not give off much light. We painted a medallion metallic bronse and when the night light is turned on the raised design looks like gold, with the dark back ground it looks fantastic.

If by globe, you mean the base of the fan, then yes it does. The base has a very dim light in it. We use it when we don't want the full light, like when we first wake up after the alarm.

Answer:
The remote can hang on the wall next to the light switch. The remote does all functions light, fan, dimmer, upper light. This is a fancy high end ceiling fan. Everything comes with it.
Of course a professional electrician could rewire and use the old wall switch in some manner but why?
Habits are hard to break but the remote is kinda nice.

Power to the remote can come from a switch on the wall but only the remote can be used for fan and lights (two lights upper and lower). Reversible fan switch but you must use the remote. a 4 wire remote. very hard to get this remote at Lowes or Home Depot well impossible.

Answer:
The remote controls the fan in three speeds and some lights around the motor housing. Decorative but very artsy. The remote controls the lights in the lower 4 lights but only works with the bulbs included. Not for CFL or LEDXXX oops I didn't really try LED so I should not say they don't work but CFL will not work and may damage your electrical on this beautiful ceiling fan.

Yes the remote does control the fan, there are three(3) silver buttons on the remote for the fan function, high, medium and low. The light function is in the middle of the remote and the button on the lower left is off.

Ponte Vecchio 54 in. Natural Iron Ceiling Fan is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 130.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love but not a lot of light I absolutely love this fan! it is gorgeous but does not put out a lot of light, changed the lightbulbs which helped a little bit . It was also extremely difficult to install, took three people. And it's really heavy. Other then that it's prefect!!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A " Statement Piece" for the home! I wanted a chandelier over our dining room table, my husband wanted a fan. We compromised on this & I am not disappointed. It's gorgeous ! It is a heavy piece though, so my husband used the safety cable when installing. It was a difficult install , at times you need another person to assist. The instructions leave out somethings that you have to figure out on your own, time consuming. Very little room for the receiver in the housing. Wiring is tedious with little room to work. Read directions carefully including boxes in gray. Fan will not operate until you attach the switch housing & light kit. Not enough light with the 4 40 watt bulbs included. I will try 60 watts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely stunning! This item is absolutely gorgeous! I ordered this online, so I wasn't sure if I'd like it as much in person, or if the pictures would be accurate. They were! If anything, it is prettier in person. Very heavy-duty with beautiful details like the painted-glass look light covers, and the reversible fan blades than can be just walnut, or a distressed look walnut. I love the distressed look! The remote is a really nice feature as well, and the fan speeds are a nice range. My husband was able to install it, but it was a little trickier than other fans he's installed for us, so plan on 1-2 hours for installation. The light bulbs are all included as well, which is a nice plus that I haven't seen in less expensive models. Overall, it adds so much to our family room, and is a stunning light fixture!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish Fan, Great Value Very nice quiet fan. It looks awesome in the room we hung It! Reminds me of the 70's era motif which is very popular right now. This fan is a big boy. We replaced a Hunter fan that was probably 5-7 pounds lighter. It took about 3 hours to install the unit at a casual pace by a handy homeowner, not a professional, and all the ceiling hookup electrics were in place from the Hunter fan. Our unit came with a four and a six inch down post and we used the six inch post since we installed the fan on an angled ceiling (see pictures). One tip: Rather than trying to jam all the wires into the ceiling cover, cut the wires short, they are so long in the event you have a two foot down post. One concern. I can't seem to find a replacement remote that has the dual light button. I like to own two remotes since remotes are the first to be lost and broken around our house and I like to have a spare (especially without it the fan is useless).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the features I searched for two weeks for the perfect fan for my living room. It had to have up-lights and down lights that operated independent of each other, remote control, at least 52" and beautiful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous but heavy!!! This fan is the real deal. That's real iron, and it's super heavy. We had to ask someone to install it for us. Don't try and do it one handed. We bought a house that was built in 1873 and this fits in great. It can be transitional or traditional. We don't have a ton of outlets, so the remote is an awesome feature. The four globe lights are controlled by one button, and there's this wonderfully muted light up top that is controlled by another button. That button has ended up being my favorite feature. First thing in the morning, after the alarm goes off, it's a much less glaring way to wake up. We are very happy with our purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product exceeded my expectation! It was a perfect match for our living room with the same shade with our furniture and walls. It created an awesome and grandeur atmosphere especially with the top lights on. Every visitors we have almost always ask where we get this beautiful fan. I am very satisfied and my wife too is very happy on the final product. I will definitely recommend this to those who are shopping for indoor ceiling fan.
