Customer Reviews

Razor 3-Light Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan Light Kit-DISCONTINUED is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Read the fine print, so it will work right Like a couple of other reviewers, I had gone through two of these fixtures in white. I still needed a light kit on my Hampton Bay fan, so I went to get a different model, the Piedmont, hoping it wouldn't blow the bulbs too. What I discovered is that it tells you on the top of the fixture, not to exceed 190 watts in lampage. The fixture is sold with 3 50 watt halogen bulbs, so you think that is fine. But on the side of the base of the light kit, it says in tiny print, that you have to add the wattage that your fan uses plus the wattage of the bulbs. I noticed at the store that electricity used varies greatly from fan to fan and the fan I own uses 51 watts. So that plus the (3) 50 watt halogen bulbs in the light kit was putting it over the 190 watt limit, thus blowing the bulbs eventually. Easy solution, know the wattage of your fan and buy lower wattage bulbs if it exceeds the 190 wattage limit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broke after a year of normal use I had this light in service for roughly a year. It worked fine, but lighting is relatively dim for any descent size room. However, after a year it just stopped working. I'm a fairly competent around electrical connections, so I took it apart found where I was loosing my 120 VAC. It turns out there is some sort of box with a circuit board in the light that the connections go to. I have no idea of it's purpose, so I removed the box and it functional correctly again. I'm a bit nervous that it is a safety of some sort, so I'll be replacing the light as soon as possible. I would not recommend this light if you actually want it to work and if you want it to light your room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from failure of light fixture I turned on the light and one of the bulbs burned out. At the same time the current limiting unit must have gone out. Now all I need is the current limiter, but I have not an idea of where I can get one. The part number of the part is HQM-190A.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasted 3 weeks! This is the second light like this one we've had. They lasted a couple of weeks and that was it. One light at a time would go out till they were all out. I thought maybe it was the wiring but they would all go out at the same time if that was the case. We bought new bulbs but they dont work either. Fan is working fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wiring instructions completely wrong. Text asks you to connect the black wire to a blue wire, and image shows black to black. Either method results in the fan turning off when the light is off and the lights will only work when fan is on high speed. The light kit and fan in my case were both made by Hampton Bay.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as as expected I am unsure what the other reviewer with the Altura fan had issues with. I have this exact same combination. I am a complete novice when it comes to electrical work, and had no trouble connecting this light kit to the fan. Very simple installation, and it will come off just as easy if you decide to get rid of it. That said, these lights plus the Altura fan look great together and function fantastically. I tucked the pull chain for the lights inside the fixture and control the lights entirely by the fan remote. My only possible gripe is that I cannot point the lights straight outward or upward (only at various downward facing angles). For $30 I certainly can't complain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sleek look easy to install Not sure what detailed issues the other 2 reviewers ran into but this light was a breeze to install. I did it in 10min and it looks and functions great. The instructions and illustrations were dead on. The only thing that can mess up the light function is not wiring up the fan correctly to the house current. The only reason this does not get 5 stars is that the bulbs were installed in the fixture and one of them was broken. These probably should be boxed separately.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was looking for Previously purchased a HB fan that came with a light fixture. I needed the fan & also track lighting so this light kit was perfect. I could not angle the lights to reach one of the paintings I was trying to highlight & I think I could have with regular track lighting, thus the 4 star as opposed to 5. This was installed in less than 10 minutes, looks great, came with the halogen lighting which I will switch out to 35 watt due to my small area, and all for $35!
