Answer:
DON'T USE THE INCANDESCENT 40-WATTERS. They use far too much power, produce way too much heat, and give lousy light. Use Candelabra LED's. This one seems to take three of them.

Remote controls all fans?

This question is from Savona 52 in. Weathered Bronze Ceiling Fan

I purchased 2 ceiling fans, and installed them in separate rooms (rooms are on opposite sides of the house). When I use one remote for a ceiling fan in one room (such as turning on the lights or fan), the remote also turns on the ceiling fan in the other room. Do all the ceiling fans have the same transmitters, or did I get 2 ceiling fans from the same manufacturer lot/batch?

All fans work off of the same frequency code. You need to set one of the two fans to a different frequency setting by changing your dip switch codes. The dip switch codes are located on both the receivers and transmitters. Answer:
in the transmitter(remote) and receiver there are a set of dip switches. These small switches select the frequency (channel) used by each light. In order to have them separate from each other change the settings on one transmitter and receiver. Just change the dip switch settings and make sure they match Trans/receiver. It should be in the installation manual how this is done.

I have done a lot of fans, but not that model. It is pretty, but I seriously doubt it will do the "hugger" function that you want. The video blurb says that it does allow "close-to-ceiling installations," but offers no more on that, merely saying that you get 4" and 6" downrods with it - I'm taking that statement as meaning it must run with the downrods, even if just the shorter one.

But, hey, order it, open it up, and see. if it won't go to the configuration you want/think you need, return it to HD. That brand is an in-house one, so I'm unsure you can "call the company" about it. Good luck! Read Less

Want a ceiling fan for main source of overhead light

Reading these reviews and questions and answers it appears as though this fan shade absorbs a lot of light. Has anyone had any luck increasing the brightness using LED bulbs with a higher wattage rating? The room is about 300 square feet and there are no other lights over head so it would be ideal to have a fan that could provide the light I am looking for. Thanks

This ceiling fan/light is not going to provide bright light. It is ambient/mood lighting at best. We have LED's in all of our fixtures and you simply can't put a bright enough bulb in this to create a truly functional overhead light.

This is the only shade that was designed for this style of fan. There are no other replacements and due to the stain on the shade the light will not shine as bright.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 183 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Fan, It's quiet, looks good, moves air well Bought two of these fans for our great room, we liked the way they looked with the stained glass light fixture. Replaced two 29 year old fans & lights. The fan is very efficient & quiet. The light fixture is glass and has a safety cable to keep it from being dropped when changing bulbs. Replaced the incandescent bulbs that came with it, they weren't very bright and produced a lot of heat, so used LED bulbs instead, brighter with a lot less heat output. These lights are dimmer than the ones we had previously due to the stained glass fixture, Got used to them in a couple days. The remote works well, it's going to be nice not to have to use a ladder to change the fan rotation direction. Was able to mount the remote holders on the switch plate screw over the hole where the un-used fan switches use to be. The only draw back to these fixtures is the low light output, but we liked the quality and look enough that we choose to keep them. No need to have the great room lit up like a operating room anyway! Hopes this review helps you! December 29, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely Beautiful I absolutely love this fan. The light is not very bright so we are using daylight LED bulbs. It still is not enough to light the bedroom. It definitely takes two people to install and a lot longer than suggest in the instructions. For mood lighting its the cat's meow! Being that we live in northeast Ohio, we have not had the proper weather to try out the fan (just had 10 inches of snow two weeks ago), but it appears to be sufficient for the room size. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beutiful Fan and Super Quiet We love this fan so much we just ordered another one. It's the quietest fan in the house. Remote control is a bonus. No hanging chains to pull on which is great. Put it on my wish list and waited for it to go on sale again. Got it for 145 bucks. Cheaper than I paid for the last one I bought a year ago on sale for 162 dollars. At 6500 cfm it is the most powerful air mover in the house. It was more difficult to put up then a normal fan but still possible for the average person. Would definitely recommend this fan. If your looking for high out put lighting this is not the fan for you. Compared to other fans this one puts out more air than average. December 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Classy Master Bedroom Fan Love the look and the weight of the fan. The fan was installed appropriately on the existing outlet. I did find the installation of the blades to bit difficult because it was at an angle, but all in all its really nice. July 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful ceiling fan This is a great ceiling fan: beautiful, no wobble (even installed on a 8 ft downrod), good air output, and the remote has the "reverse" feature. My contractor was able to install it easily as well. The only negative that I have found is the light isn't very bright...but it's good enough for me. June 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just perfect ! Beautiful fixture for my dining room...very classy. Loved the remote-no more climbing on the table to adjust settings! Also the dimmer adds to the ambience of the room. July 7, 2015
