Answer:
Just twist off the glass and unscrew the bulb. Remember not to touch the bulbs with your bare hands as this is a halogen bulb. Halogen bulbs will burn out quicker if you touch with your bare hands due to the oil on fingers. Once you have changed the bulb just twist lock glass back in place,.

Are there bright bulbs for this fan, if so which? The one it comes with is very, very dull.

Answer:
Hello divine0624. This fan comes with a 100W mini can halogen bulb. You can change the bulb to the new LED mini can halogen bulb which should produce a whiter light that might be better suited to your needs.

Hi Beth
This fan is controlled strictly by remote control. It comes with an in wall remote that even controls the reverse function. I personally prefer in wall remotes over handheld remotes or pull chains.

Answer:
My guess is the switch on the wall has been turned off or during cleaning you may have tripped the breaker. As for the bulb the cleaner may have reacted with the bulb causing it to burn out prematurely.

Sidewinder 54 in. Oil-Rubbed Bronze Ceiling Fan is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 164.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lots of wind Best air circulation I've ever seen in a ceiling fan. Light not very bright. Not an easy instal at all. Be prepared to use many more hours than intended installing this fan.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Fan, Difficult to Install, Could Not Balance I've installed 4 (all Hampton Bay) ceiling fans at my house. The other 3 work great. This one was a pain from the start. A part that was supposed to be threaded wasn't (the staff was very helpful and indeed the replacement part they sent me was threaded - I had wondered if I was taking crazy pills until I received the replacement and saw the threading). 2 of the other 3 fans didn't require use of the balancing kit, and the third was quickly and easily balanced. This one I spent HOURS trying to balance. I tried using multiple kits at once (I tried one then 2 on the same blade, then 2 on different blades, then every possible combination involving 3 then I gave up on that path). I tried using colored electrical tape (to identify blades) and a slow motion camera to get a feel for where the center of mass was. None of that worked. The other fans all had 4 rubber contacts with the ceiling and this one only had two points of contact (via the bolts). This means that the unbalanced nature of it invariably results in it swaying back and forth perpendicular to the line between the two bolts. I suggest downloading the instructions and looking at the base for any fan you're considering. (I wouldn't have thought of that if not for this fan.) If yours is balanced the fan is actually really great. Even at high speed it's quiet (except for, in my case, the rocking). It puts out good air. You can definitely feel low, and it's pleasant. High (on my 9' ceiling) I'd save for crazy hot days. Any loose piece of paper will scoot across the room. Your eyes would dry out, but if you were hot high would feel amazing. A huge word of caution. In talking to the replacement part staff, they've said they're no longer supporting this fan. They might have individual parts for it, but once they run out of that part that's it. I feel like it would be appropriate for this to be mentioned somewhere on the page for the fan. (Maybe it is - I haven't checked, and I did get the part I needed. It was just information I received and wanted to share with potential buyers.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Circulating Fan The Sidewinder is an excellent fan. The first one I owned lasted 10 years before the motor burned out. It is a very nice looking fan and circulates air like a fan should. The blades are larger and there is less gap between them, than there is on other fans. We can feel the air circulating in the room very well. It is very quiet, has a bright light and a remote control that operates both the fan and light. The fan requires the remote control to operate it as there are no chains for the fan and light like other fans. The light can be operated by the remote or the light switch on the wall. I cannot comment on ease of installation because the electrician installed it, however it was put together and installed in a relatively short period. I didn't look at the clock, but it was probably 1 1/2 to 2 hours time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from wouldnt work by remote after 2 years This fan worked by remote only, it ran fine for 2 years. It just stopped working so I bought new batteries for he remote, that didnt help. Noone at homedepot could tell me what to do, so I had a electrician hard wire the fan but not the light and that only worked for about a year

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pro install only! Very difficult to install fan blades, I'm a contractor who has installed many fans and this one you should not try unless you are a pro.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sidewinder - Oil Rubbed Bronze This is a beautiful fan. We also purchased the Oil Rubbed Bronze version of this fan. REMOTE vs. NO REMOTE Only the Brushed Nickel version of this fan came with a remote. The Oil Rubbed Bronze comes with a wall mount remote that requires a bit more work to install. Our existing light switch was a single panel with two stacked switches. Our options were to lose the switch that controlled an outlet or expand the panel box to be a double wide. We chose to do the double wide and had to hire an electrician as we didn't have much room to work with. Had this version come with a remote, it would have been an easier install. RECEIVER I have installed about a dozen lights / ceiling fans and it seems like the newest feature is extremely large receiver code boxes. These are about 2.5" x 5" and you have to cram this up in the ceiling along with all your wiring. LIGHT - DIM The light bulb that comes with the product is not extremely bright. It's fine for a bedroom, but if you're trying to use it to read / light a large room, you will probably need additional lighting. APPEARANCE / PERFORMANCE The fan is beautiful. The added bronze accents add a bit more detail to the fan blades. I love the frosted / tinted glass light cover. It's a bit more stylish than a plain colored glass bowl. It runs very smoothly / quietly and picks up speed very quickly. I like the dimmer feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT AIR MOVEMENT Bought this fan along with a 36" down rod. This fan really blows some air. No movement at all, even with the 36" down rod. Quiet...doesnt make a lick of sound. On high, this fan really blows some air. Previous fan was always set on med or high. This fan is on medium when the AC is off, low when the AC is running. Highly recommend. Plus it looks awesome too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful fan! I ordered two of these fans for my family room. I was impressed with the unique look and quality of the item. These fans circulate a lot of air. However, once installed, one of the fans was whisper quiet and the other one sounds like something in the motor scrubs with every complete spin of the blades. That was disappointing as we now have to completely disassemble the item for return. The online customer service gladly ordered me a new one to be delivered. I will return the defective one to my local store. I would still highly recommend the item. Remote is not the quality that I would have expected and does not have a reverse button. That must be done manually from a switch on top of the motor housing.
