If you have 12 hours of daylight, the unit should stay on all night. Even in the middle of winter here in NH it does not usually dim until morning when you do not really need it anymore.

The real answer is - "It depends." It depends on the battery charge, the amount, duration, and intensity of the sunlight and the temperature outside. IN summer months I have noticed that they will stay lit through the night after a full day in the sun. In the winter months, perhaps only several hours after it gets dark. But, that is the nature of solar lighting. If you need lights to be on throughout the night and throughout the seasons of the year, then perhaps investing in a low-voltage system would be a better option than solar. Hope this helps. Read Less

The box says "Up to 8 hours of Operating Time". I don't buy it, and you shouldn't buy these. You'll be disappointed. Cheap, soft plastic, 4 out of 6 tubes broke just putting them on the stakes as directed.

So, when you remove lights from box, you slip a protector off which allows light to initiate glow. I set mine out that mid day & they all stayed lite all night (I arise for work early so I saw them lighting my sidewalks.) Very nice glow & I spaced them from 8-10 feet apart; my path to my front door is well light w/ the porch light on also. I needed them mostly for my steps going up to my home. Great Read More

They are approximately a foot long, but you should Check the box for dimensions. You can push them into the ground as far as you like, so you'd have to determine if this is what you need.

I do not know, but at the price you are paying, it would most likely be cheaper to just buy a whole new six pack. I know that is not very environmentally-friendly, but I believe the plastic is recyclable.

Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 193 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Affordable - Cheap As the title states, very affordable product, but they do not hold up very well. I purchased these to replace all the "dead/worn-out" units I installed 8 months ago. 100% plastic (no metal) and the lenses yellow which contributes to progressive dimming of the lighting. The contacts within battery compartment fail and have to replace lantern head piece to get working. Since purchasing, I have repurchased and upgraded to higher priced, better quality and improved value solar light from Home Depot. I plan to return thesis recently purchased (affordable/cheap) back this afternoon I would not recommend the purchase of this product - unless cheap low priced affordability is primary to decision. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Goodall product They were easy to ensamble. To start lighting the first time takes time, but at the end they look great! April 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by OK Lights looked good and were easily installed; however gave off dull light. Two of six in each of two boxes did not work. Returned both boxes. March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty and Functional I placed two packages of these lights on a long, dark sidewalk leading to the house. They were easy to install and the directions were clear. (Do remember to pull the strip activating the batteries.) I installed them mid afternoon and they were charged and ready to go by nighttime. I don't know if the charge lasts through the night as they were installed at a rental property I own but do not occupy. Months later all the lights are still working and have stood up to the elements and, more importantly, the yard guy. They throw off a soft, warm ring of light; just enough to light your way without being harsh or too bright. Neighbors have commented on how nice they look and asked for the product information. The quality for value is great. February 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by led lights are good but not super bright it is winter time, so that limits sun exposure to the solar batteries. summer's longer days will be better. February 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for the price! very easy to install and the lighting is not too bright but just right for what I was looking for. Be careful to not put too much force on the lights or they will break. Great product for what you are paying for. April 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Surprisingly reliable product We have bought & tossed many solar lights. Some were cheap, some were costly...made of copper. All performed dismally. I read previous reports and decided to try these inexpensive lamps. WOW! They work great. We liked them so much that we bought 2 more sets; we now have 'extras' in case the originals deteriorate. The appearance is a rather generic black plastic style. However, I rated the lights a "5" because they give off such a nice glow......function over style. Only after 7 days of rain and gloom, did we have to let the lights recharge in full sun. We highly recommend these. December 15, 2015
