I bought these lights on clearance and thought it was a great deal but there are definite flaws. The stakes used to mount these lights on are too flimsy. The lights make the posts lean because of the weight load. I had to buy some rebar to stake next to the posts and then zip tie them to it. Also, the lights are very dim and they do not last the entire night. I would NOT recommend buying these lights and if it were not for the fact that I bought these at a lower price, they would have gone back to the store. Now I know why they were returned and marked down in the clearance section but for the price I paid, I'll keep them.

I've never seen them stay on for more that 2 or 3 hours (at the most), and this was in mid-summer on a bright sunny day. I have tried alternative batteries and I have had a "solar lighting expert" check them and nothing helped. I have had these for over a year and I really wish I had taken them back while I could. But they were so pretty, I kept hoping they would get better with time. They have not. Hampton Bay really blew it on this product.

I thought that the expense of these lights would imply quality. These are the worst solar-powered, decorative lights I've ever bought, and I own three other varieties.
Out of the box, all four lit up very brightly. I set them outside to charge up for the five hours before sunset, although they all seemed to have a decent charge already.
The sun has been down for a half hour, so I took a look at them. 3 of 4 are dark! The one that is lit is dim. I took the tops off of the three dark ones and reinstalled their batteries. They all lit up brightly! That lasted less than five minutes. They're dark, again.
I'll let them charge the full day, tomorrow, and see what they do tomorrow evening. I am not optimistic, and I bet I take them back the following morning.
Very, very disappointed.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by cathyg Best looking but LEAST bright. If you want light, do NOT get these.
These are the best looking ones I could find. I was willing to pay much more just for looks alone. I love the reed look on the hook. HOWEVER, these put out almost NO light! I charged them the way I was supposed to. Even more! The little light they shine goes out in a few hours. I like them so much. I'm so disappointed. I've considering stuffing christmas lights inside and putting them on a timer (which would make them not solar). I have taken them out of the ground and starting packing them back up anyway.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JW0527 Didn't work right out of the box
Left them in the sun for at least 8 hours the first day. That night, nothing...no light. Twisted the fixture base, and then twisted shut again, and Boom! They come on. Next night, no light again. Tried twisting the top portion again, and then back into closed position and lights come on, albeit dim.
I will return these tomorrow and hopefully find something better. Awesome appearance, poor performance and overall quality.

Awesome lights and these last a long time after the sun goes down.

The solar charge does not last very long and is not as bright as I thought it would be. The lanterns themselves look nice along the sidewalk. One was inadvertently knocked to the ground and the small "holders" which keep the base and body attached broke off and I was not able to re-glue as the little plastic pieces shattered.. Had to be creative to be able to use the lantern.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Siskiyoumtnrider Very cute, however, a little dim.
They are cute and do put off light, but,not quite bright enough to guide one on part of our very long driveway. They are attractive so I'll use them next to a patio area for a subtle glow and look for brighter ones for the driveway.
