Thank you for your question. The code for the remote is set by adjusting the dip switches on the remote and receiver to any desired combination. There are 4 dip switches that create 16 different codes.

Answer:
Sorry for the issue you're having. If the 52in Southwind fan is making a grinding noise. Remove the arms and blades from the fan, let the motor spin and see if it is still making the noise. If the arms and blades are off and the noise still continues please call customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678)

Is there a pull cord option to operate speeds and light?

I had one of these fans - worked well for a couple of years but then the remote quit working and I had to pay an electrician to wire it to a switch on the wall. It continued to work well until one of the blades was broken recently by furniture delivery people. I am trying to replace it with either the same fan or something similar which could be hard wired with pull chains in case another remote foes the same way. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. There is not a pull chain option with this fan. One suggestion would be to order replacement blades for your existing fan becalming customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678).

Answer:
No there is no pull cord on this. It's all controlled via the remote. I had ceiling fan pre-wires with separate switches for light and fan, and I installed this using those switches. The remote does not control the light with my configuration, but I can toggle the light and the fan on and off from the switches, and still control the fan and speeds from the remote.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 678 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FANtastic! Great value! I purchased 2 Matte White fans. I plan to purchase a 3rd one, if these ever are back in stock. Installation was quite easy. I chose Close Mount installation for both rooms for maximum clearance. I really like how the white fans kind of disappear into the white ceilings. That, along with the extra clearance makes the rooms look larger and lighter. No more albatrosses hanging from the ceiling. And...no more pull chains! The remote control includes a bracket for mounting on the wall, which is perfect for one fan which is hard-wired. One fan is wired to a wall switch; so, I can turn the fan/light on/off from the wall switch, and keep the remote by my bed or in the mounting bracket. It uses 2 bulbs (included), but I knew not to expect it to put out a lot of light. I've read other reviews and questions/answers which tell of other types of appropriate bulbs which give off more light. I plan to replace the bulbs, AND also will be getting ones that are dimmable. This fan looks very nice--crisp and clean. I took photos, but the fans look better in real life. April 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice fan The fan was easy to install and worked flawlessly. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Fan This ceiling fan was installed in our bedroom two weeks ago and we absolutely love it. Looks nice and works great. It wobbles a little on high speed and Hampton Bay provided a balancing kit to rectify the wobble if necessary. Low and medium speeds move the air nicely and so I don't anticipate using high speed often. August 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great fan the fan was a breeze to install and the included remote was also very easy to install as the directions were easy to understand. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smoothest, quietest.............. This fan replaces our old '97 Hampton Bay remote reversible which was disabled by an electrical surge during a storm. Although not reversible by remote control, we are extremely happy with the product. The fan is the smoothest running, most quiet I have ever had. No wobbling, humming or rattling. Smooth as silk. Ease of installation was enhanced by the excellent set of instructions and parts that fit together perfectly. We are now considering this same model for replacement of other fans in the house. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good fan Easy assembly, good value for dollar, would purchase again August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan This fan was super easy to install. The air circulation is amazing too. My room is pretty big with vaulted ceilings and it does a great job. My husband commented last night on how quiet it runs. We have a ceiling fan in our living from that $100 more than this one and it is extremely noisy. I would gave this product 5 stars even though when we opened the box the globe was broken, and there was no remote. I did that because I emailed Home Depot customer service immeditately and received a very quick response that they had put in an order to ship me a new globe, and remote. May 17, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lighting Problems? Per Installation Trouble Shooting Guide "Call customer service to verify that the light limiter is not defective." My fans lights went out after approximately 5 months and the fan stays at one speed. You need to write down model number and information from top of motor before talking to customer service.
