By far the most labor intensive ceiling fan I have ever installed and I have installed many. It looks nice when you are done but it only has three 40 watt max bulbs and if you are looking for good lighting I suggest you look elsewhere. It definitely does not light up a room.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ElectronicsEngineer Good fan for the price. Poor illumination.
The fan is really silent even at the max speed. Good quality and craftsmanship. In my case the only downside is the extremely low light coming out of this fan/lamp. The color on the glass and the finish on the fan makes it difficult to illuminate an area even a small one. The lamp uses chandelier bulb with a max of 60 watts (3),
Since both of the fans were already installed (my wife wanted to return and get different with more light) but no way that I will be doing that. So I ended modifying the lamp by using a white diffuser (sold in L...S) and using fluorescent bulbs. Way more bright now, so the photo shown is different from the box. Brighter and energy efficient.
No need to do balance work to get them at work.
Definitely recommended but be advised that small bulb with low wattage and really dark glass will result in minimal illumination.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unhappy Lights overheat/shut off after 30 minutes
The lights shut down after 30 minutes. Apparently they overheat when the glass cover is in place. It doesn't happen when the cover is left off, but who wants naked bulbs on display?! Its been expensive and inconvenient to have the fixture removed and replaced. Very disappointed in Hampton Bay

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Enlightened Very Poor Quality Manufacturing, Don't Buy This Fan
I have now installed two of this same model, both of which failed in the exact same way. The switch that operates the fan (not the light) failed and appears to bind to the point where you can't pull or retract the chain. When removing the fan for return to HD, I examined the switch which is in the lighting kit and it really deepened my frustration. The switch appears to have partially melted, a black wire that ran into the switch simply fell out like it had never really been attached and you could see through the clear plastic of the switch housing that the chain had become fouled in a spring mechanism in the switch. I am returning this fan, getting my money back and I am absolutely not replacing it with anything made by Hampton Bay or related companies.

I'm amazed how this fan looks. It's very quiet.I installed this in a Bedroom which is 12x11.8 .There is no up & down pulsation on the blades at all at any speed .What was different than other fans was you have to install all the blades on the part called the flywheel then you mount this entire assembly to the fan motor. Low speed is perfect for sleeping. Lighting is ok for the bedroom not too bright not too dim like someone said its on the romantic side. The bulbs have a frosted coating on them and the light shade is yellowish as you see.The directions are something to be desired..Poor....The only issue I had was the pull chain for the light was sticking. That was due to the the very last part the chain goes thru (called the Finial ) the hole was too small.I reamed it out slightly and now works great. The more I look at it the more I like it. This runs smoother than the other fan I just purchased last week which was a Hunter Regalia 60" which has a slight up & down pulsating on the blades...

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by twinter11 Defective Fan Switch. Poor Light Output
Install took a couple hours because the remote control they ( Home Depot Rep) picked out for me would not operate the unit.
Tried multiple options, uninstalled and tried again with it hung from a garage rafter. Still would not operate. Gave up and installed without the remote.
After 8 months, the pull chain switch has stopped operating the fan and is stuck.
Contacted Hampton Bay customer service and they advised they can send a new switch for me to install.
I am sure it is past time for a return but would love to exchange this unit if they would take it back.
The fan looks decent and runs quiet.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ShinobusSmile Great looking fan but with some drawbacks
Visually, this was the only fan at homedepot that i liked and just over my budget at $100.
High fan speed moves a good amount of air (5150 CFM)
Was more or less balanced. When i first turned it on there was a very soft grinding/rubbing noise but it eventually went away.
Installation is a little cumbersome. More steps than most other types of fans.
Light Uses special 40W E12 Bulbs that are very dim even for a bedroom.
The finish scratches easily especially during proper installation so be careful.
Not Flush Mountable
