I have a maximum allowance of 12" H for this install.

Also, is the reverse side of the blade a darker finish?

Answer:
No, the installation hardware will not allow flush mount.
(If you have access to machine tools and a willingness to experiment -- and void your warranty -- you might be able to shorten the included down rod by 1.5 - 2", but no more than that.)
The blades are not reversible. (And are the same finish on both sides, in any case.)

Answer:
Yes. The manual shows a mounting option for a sloped ceiling at a maximum 18-degree angle from horizontal, but says you may need a longer down rod in that case.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice small fan makes the room look bigger Bought to put in a small room in my sisters house. Installed close mount and it really makes the room look bigger. Also updates the room to look less traditional. Does hum a little so do all of my fans that are close mounted instead of using the down rod. Needs to be on high setting to really move some air. Probabaly would need a larger fan if you want it to cool and not just circulate air. Glass is also kind of scary to remove but other than that I'm glad I bought it. June 26, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice small ceiling fan This 30" ceiling fan looks good, has great airflow (for its size), runs quiet, and was straightforward (though tedious) to install. If you can get it on sale, it's an excellent value. Installation is relatively easy if you're familiar with installing ceiling fans. It has a hanger bracket that holds the fan while you complete the wiring, like most modern fans. But it'll take you a while -- there are a lot of screws for the blades (5 screws per blade X 6 blades = 30 screws!). Also, my fan came with a bunch of extra hardware, so don't be alarmed if you have screws and washers left over. The light glass is held in by spring clips -- not a twist lock. (The product description is wrong, at least for the version I received in Dec 2014.) The clips were disturbingly tight against the wafer-thin glass, so I bent them in gently with some pliers reduce the tension. Overall fit and finish on the fan are excellent -- nothing loose, no rattles. The wood-finish blades are actually very nice. Up close while you're installing them, you can tell they're not real wood (or even real veneer), but all six blades have different grain patterns, and from a distance they don't look at all fake or plasticky. One negative: the light glass only barely fits a standard 60 watt bulb. It comes with a smaller-than-normal CFL bulb, but if you're thinking about swapping that out for a brighter LED bulb, beware that a lot of the "fits standard fixture" 60W-equiv LED bulbs will be too big for this. (I tried several. The Philips VisionLED 9290002707 just barely fits, if you're looking.) December 30, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice Purchase I thought this was a very buy, it went up with ease. Will be looking in the future for another. November 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value This is a small fan and had concerns as to the amount of air it would move. When I turned it on was very pleased with the air movement and fits perfect for the small bedroom it was installed in. A little lacking in the amount of light it gives with the bulb that was provided however acceptable. Possibly a different bulb would improve. July 8, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by The product did not meet our expectations After the installation we noticed the lamp glass shade was broken. Since most of the work of the assembly was done we tried to put it anyway but we were unable because the clips to hold the shade were too tight. The fan itself blows nicely but we are afraid to keep it even though we will get a replacement part because of the poor mechanism to install the shade. If someone have any comments in regards this installation process before we return it please advise, Thank you. February 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ceiling Fan Review This fan was easy to install and looks great. It has a non traditional look blade-wise and is a great design. Very quiet and puts out a lot of air. Economical and a great deal for the price. We put it into our master bath as an additional fan and it moves a lot of air in the space provided, which was narrow. My wife loves it! June 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good deal We are very pleased with this fan,it is just the right size and style for our kitchen. It was shipped free of charge in a timely fashion and was very easy to insall June 17, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by you need to know what you're doing If you're good with your hands and you are a decent DIY, this is a good product. If you're not good with tools and patience, get this one installed....it will be worth the time and money June 17, 2014
