Answer:
Thank you for your interest in the Trieste fan. This fan is a dual-mount fan, meaning that it can be installed on a flat ceiling with the included downrod, or on an angled ceiling using an extension downrod. Flush mounting this fan is not an option.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 83 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great transitional fan My electrician installed it without an issue. The fan looks great. The simple design and 3 blades gives the room an updated look. It can be installed as a hugger fan. We did it without the down rod and it works well. March 29, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good fan purchase The fans were easy to install, look great and run well. The remote control is a great feature. They make a nice addition to our office area. February 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice The fan works great. The light is a little dim for having 2 bulbs it, but it's a nice, amber glow. It was fairly easy to install, but the directions leave a bit to be desired. They're very difficult to interpret, but take your time, and look at the parts before screwing anything together. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product over-all I really can't complain about any features. The styling is modern but fits with my turn of the century decor (lots of darker wood, light bedding/window coverings, dark accents). We didn't have to use the balancing tools, it fit together very nicely. After reading other reviews while deciding to purchase this fan... the remote box fits snugly inside the "cap" that attaches to the ceiling box. Installation was relatively easy. About one hour from start to finish. It helps to have two sets of hands, a fillip's screw driver, & wire snips/stripper handy. Make sure you cut the electricity and are mounted to stud and you should be golden. Also, the remote feature makes installation easier - no futzing with a switch - the fan on/off, light on/off, and speed controls are through the remote which comes with a nice mount (I attached it to the side of our headboard - it's a smaller mount and blends into the room nicely/easily). We love the three speeds; the low speed is perfect to circulate air while we are sleeping to cool the room; medium and high really get air moving (our bedroom is approx 20'x20'). It's worth mentioning that the lighting should be more of an accent - it is dimmer than something with exposed bulbs. We have bed side lamps and between the 3 sources have plenty of lighting for the space. If the style/amount of light fits your interests look no further... this is a good fan. June 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by poor overview information PRODUCT OVERVIEW Model # 26600 Internet # 202670053 The Hampton Bay Trieste Oil-Rubbed Bronze Ceiling Fan is wonderfully styled with clean lines and Mahogany blades. A conveniently included remote controls its 3 speeds and reverse function. This is wrong! it does not control the reverse function. I purchased this fan for its looks and remote control reverse function. I have a 12 ft ceiling. September 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan First fan I ever installed myself, was fairly easy and the fan looks awesome. Definitely recommend October 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Trieste 52 in. Oil Rubbed Bronze Ceiling Fan Fan was easy to assemble and worked as described. We installed it on a flat ceiling and it runs very smooth and without wobble without adding the supplied shims. The instructions do not describe where the signal module installs, but it rests inside the fan bracing within the ceiling cup. August 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Fan does not work on Hi setting This fan was the most difficult of the Hampton Bay fans that we purchased. It always seemed slower than the others, but thought nothing of it until recently when it became hotter. We usually kept it on the medium setting, but noticed when we tried the HI setting it was now slower than it has previously been. We called the manufacturer ( Home depot) and was initially met with a very rude customer service personnel who decided to blame us for not noticing or reporting the problem earlier. When she was questioned about her behavior, she hung up the phone. We called back and spoke to another person who recommended a product that controls the speed. We were charged for the part which did not work when we installed it and are not able to get a full refund even if we tried. So now we are stuck with a $150 fan that doesn't work properly. I believe that either the motor that is faulty or it's just not a good product. July 9, 2016
