Can this fan be hooked up to a dual wall switch, one for the fan and one for the light? Can I turn on the light without turning on fan?

Asked by: Angela
Yes you can buy a fan rated wall switch. The wall switch has 2 buttons on the switch. One controls fan speed the other how bright or dim you want your light. Please ensure it is a fan rated switch. If you do not get an approved fan rated switch it could cause your fan to hum.

Can the fan be hooked up to a switch on the wall instead of using the remote.

Asked by: Nana
Yes, we have the fan hooked up to both the remote and the wall switch. It's very nice looking and makes very little noise. I'm very happy with this purchase!

These look beautiful in our new lake house.. however, we did put them up next to a new chandelier and the bulbs that were included with the fan were not LED so something you might want to be aware of.. we replaced the old bulbs with LED and they are stunning!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice fan with a couple of quirks. (Silver version.) The quality is good and it looks nice with our stainless steel kitchen appliances. The operation is quiet and smooth and installation was relatively easy. I'm only mentioning the following gripes because I would have liked to know them in advance: - The fan (and light) can't be turned on initially without the remote control, and the necessary A23 battery is not included. - The light has a dimmer and soft start which look really nice, but make it incompatible with CFLs. - The glass shade is attached with three screws and has to be removed to change a bulb, requiring removing one screw and loosening the other two. The screws are on top of the shade and not easy to see unless you're above them on a ladder. Maybe lots of fans are like this, it's going to make changing bulbs a pain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful fan. Best design. I have installed many fans over the years in 5 different houses so I speak from experience. This is one of the best-designed fans I've ever installed. It's a very logical and straightforward design. The parts are very high-quality and go together easily. The instructions do not allow for wiring without the remote which I found frustrating but an experienced do-it-yourselfer can easily work around this if the remote is not desired. One caveat: this fan has a large motor section and really creates a focal point. It will easily overwhelm a small room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting retro modern The fan motor is a bit loud on high. A distinct hum. Well balanced without adjustment. Sturdy. Moves plenty of air. The "Brushed Nickel" finish has some discoloration in a few small spots. Reminds me of tarnishing or rust. Cant be seen from the ground, but concerned about them getting larger over time. The light kit with three 40 watt candelabra bulbs was too dim. I replaced with 60's. The maximum listed wattage for the lights is 190. Beyond that it turns itself off for safety. At some point I will replace with dimmable LED's. The one thing I HATE about it is HOW the bulbs are changed. It is perhaps the most cumbersome, most ridiculous design i have ever experienced, and i renovate homes for a living. Four tiny screws go into the light cover housing FROM THE TOP. You must loosen three, and remove one entirely, then twist the housing slightly to release it from the remaining three screws, the drop it straight down. God forbid you need to do this up high if the fan is mounted on a cathedral ceiling. Even at "normal" heights your eyes really need to be ABOVE the light kit looking down to see what you are doing. Step stool won't cut it. That's one of the reasons I'm going to replace with LED's in addition to the energy savings. They last 15-20 years so you don't have to mess with it again. On the whole its nice looking and interesting. I like it. Have gotten favorable comments on it thus far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great looking ceiling fan. I purchased this particular fan for it's unusual and unique look. I installed it in my office and I'm quite pleased with the style and function. One thing to be aware of is the light, due to it's design aims most of the light straight down. Other than that the fan works perfectly and is very quiet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fan I bought two of these for my condo - one for the living room and one for the bedroom. I love the simple, sleek design - much less fussy than many others but still very homey - and they do a great job of cooling down the rooms, even on low. The remote is handheld and comes with a holder that mounts to the wall. The light is not bright enough to be the only light source in a room, but still gives off a good amount of light. Please note that the remote takes a special 12-volt battery that is not included.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from second fan with problems This was the second fan that we purchased and paid to install. The first had a grinding sound that developed in the motor. We returned it and went on line and bought a different model and manufacturer. We paid to have it installed again and after a week it is making a loud noise of indeterminate source.. Will once again have to remove it and hope Home Depot will pick up the cost of replacement and install.
