Does the wall control use a standard Decora plate?

Does the wall control use a standard Decora plate? I have a 2-gang box that it will have to go in and I want to make sure that it is not a non-standard size.

can the fan be used without the wall control?

Asked by: dozenfans
You would need a speed/light wall control of some sort. Mine had NO pull cords to change speeds, so theoretically, if installed to a general on/off, or even fan light/speed switch... there would be no way to change speeds and I would guess it would be on high speed when electricity was supplied to it at the switch.

So we finally finished out outdoor patio cover and the fans were the last thing installed. I loved the look of the fans. We have a Spanish style home so I think it complemented the European feel of the area. We were worried about the airflow since we had pretty high ceilings, but the airflow was adequate and good for our space. Also we were worried about the light since it's not as bright, but we didn't really have to worry at all. In fact, there was plenty of lighting especially once we added the string lights. We did have a challenge with the remote system. Since there were 2 fans, we had to get 2 separate remote/receiver units, and they needed to be programed. Once that was set-up, it worked really well. We've been using it for the past month, and so far everything has been working perfectly. We get a lot of complements on our set-up. It did meet our expectations, and I would recommend this product to others.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very dim ceiling fan Ceiling fan is very appealing during the day, but the light is extremely dim at night due to the thick frosted glass. We had to ultimately take the fan down and exchange it for a different style that offered better lighting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this fan is great and easy to install i bought this fan along with 3 different fans. did not relieze it had no chains but that was no problem with the wall mount remote. we just had a new house built and had pre-wires put in all the rooms for ceiling fans. install took about an hour and i just learned house hold electrical stuff about a month ago. i read some of the other reviews on how install was hard. not true if you have just a little knowledge on electricity and wiring. just basic and you'll be fine. love the fan and it looks great. i would recommend getting it, the fan on high works good and the light looks good at night. you can dim it real low and it gives an awesome look. A+++++

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent fan at a good price This fan looks and works great. The wall mounted remote control is required, since there are no pull chains. The fan is quiet and balanced at all three speeds, without using the included balancing kit. The light toggles on and off to the last light level and dims using the pushbutton on the wall remote. Materials are excellent, including extensive vibration isolation. The included downrod is good for an 8' ceiling. I bought a 12" downrod for our vaulted ceiling. I installed it myself with no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fan for outdoors This is my second one. I received so many compliments on the first one that when it came time to install a second fan I didn't have to think twice about what to order. Very easy to assemble and hang.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful fan! Beautiful fan! I purchased 2 of these fans for my kitchen. The rustic look is just what I was looking for, and I didn't want bare bulbs showing. The fan wasn't the easiest one I ever installed, but that was because I needed it installed where there was a 3-way switch. The other one, which was on a single-pole switch was easy to install. The only mistake I made was that I didn't change the code in one of them and every time I turned on the switch it turned on the other fan in the kitchen and even another fan in the den which wasn't even the same brand of fan! Needless to say, I had to change the code on one fan and in the wall mounted remote after I had it hung up so nicely. Grrrrrr! (I didn't want the hand held remote.) The only reason why I didn't rate the fan with 5 stars was because the light is too darn dim. I'm praying that they will come out with candleabra LEDs with more lumens so I can make them brighter than measly 40 watt bulbs. How "experts" think it is better for the environment by making the wattage so low that you can't see to read a recipe and you end up putting in 100 other lamps in the room to create enough light is beyond me; but we can thank the politicians for that blunder...
