I bought the Wellston fan to replace the world's ugliest fan in my kitchen. I like the simplicity of the Wellston, but there are a couple of issues. The Wellston offered a choice of drop, and I wanted close to the ceiling, and probably should have got a hugger instead. The fact that they did not display the WHITE option in the store complicated my decision. Anyway, the first issue I have with the fan is the exposed mounting screws at the ceiling. Not attractive. Should have come with something to cover those. Bigger problem, I also find that it does not give off enough light. The glass bowl is too opaque, and/or I need brighter bulbs. So additional purchase required.

Great value and looks great once installed. Easy to install and provide adequate lighting.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jack Two out of three ain't bad
I'm putting fan/light fixtures in five rooms. I put two of a different brand which were bigger and a bit more expensive in two large rooms. The I installed three of these in smaller bedrooms. All are standard ceiling mount using the short rod that came with the fan. I found this fan/light easier to install than the two more expensive ones. IMHO, it's a good design for installation. The blade balance is good and fan "hum" is low..
My problem and the reason for both the title of this review and the overall rating is that one of the fans was defective. The motor made a clicking sound that wasn't really noticeable until after the fan blades were attached. So, down it came, had to take it partially apart and back to the store. Home Depot took it back as expected, no problem and I have a replacement on order.

I ordered this fan in white and when it arrived, I noticed that the blades had a slight blue tint to them. I immediately called Home Depot Customer Service and they were great about sending out a new set of blades. Unfortunately, they also had the blue tint. I had the fan installed anyways, but the motor had an unhealthy sounding hum/grind/thump to it. The electrician that installed it took the motor apart, but concluded that it was just a bad motor. Sadly, I had to return the entire fan and will be looking for a different model.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Steven Looks good, a few installation drawbacks
Bought this fan on sale for around $50. I have installed about a dozen ceiling fans and this one had a few drawbacks. First I planned to install using the flush mount option. In the process I noticed that the hook to hold the fan in place was turned the wrong direction. I used pliers to rotate it, but it snapped when the fan was placed. The second drawback was I tried to install a remote control to the fan, but there was no room in the canopy due to a non-removable piece of the pole. I then reverted to the standard installation and it went fine from there.
Overall the fan operates fan, although the motor does have a louder hum than I am accustomed too.

install did not take long, can choose either side of blades for different look. Only downfall is it did not come with a remote ( can be ordered separate) the only one's in store that did were too large. Looks sleek and is very quiet
