Does the head come with a bulb, and what kind of replacement bulb do you use?

This looks like a great idea. I have the original small cans like this in my kitchen and they've turned tan over the years. But I haven't been able to find a PAR16 LED bulb for them with this much output. (8.5W) I have been using 70W Halogens. The specs don't say what size bulb goes with this fixture. Is it a PAR16? Where would I buy them with this much power? OR is the bulb part of the fixture - integral to it - and you don't replace just the bulb but the whole fixture?

I'm assuming that the fixture comes with the bulb/integral bulb because of the price. Is that right?

Unfortunately, you are SOL. The label on the Model 1604 says "LED light cannot be replaced." So you toss it if it proves too weak or burns out.

Well, nobody answered my question, so I'm answering it myself. I ordered one of these track lights and not long after I got it, I took it apart to see how it was constructed. I attached a bunch of pictures of it The main answer is that it does not use a standard bulb of any kind. It is made with the assumption that LEDs have such a long life span that you'll never need to replace it. Nice idea, but LEDs do get zapped in surges.
The front of the light has a plastic bezel. When that is removed (it snaps in) you can see a clear glass disk held in place by a collar that has three screws. This collar also holds the reflector in place, a piece of plastic in a parabolic shape that is reflective on the inside. With the reflector removed, you can see that the source of light is a star shaped LED screwed to a metal heatsink. The LED has the name BRIDGELUX on it. Their LEDs are available on the internet. This means that if the LED blew out, you might be able to buy a replacement LED for under $10.
This unit is very bright - much brighter than the PAR16 LED bulbs that are available. The color of the light is very pleasing and quite similar to a halogen light. There are two differences though. One is that the light is a little harsh. The lens on the front of the light is clear glass, whereas most bulbs have a diffuser on the front. This makes shadows very sharp in comparison. Also, the light sits far forward in the can, so you can see the bright reflector more easily than with a can where the light is recessed a bit. Read Less

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Dimming Track Fixture! We looked forever for a solid track lighting fixture that would also be able to dim and for something not insanely expensive. All our lamps in our home are CFL and LED, so we did not want to put up 50W MR lamps which I realize are able to dim. I also realize you can buy an MR fixture and replace it with dimmable LED lamps. However, while researching those, we realized that they add another step of dimming coordination and once you pay for a fixture and a dimmable LED lamp, you could just buy an integrated LED fixture instead. With dimming being the main focus, the next step was researching compatible dimmers. There are many reviews out there about products not dimming correctly. It's a very complicated issue and you cant just throw up any LED product and any type of dimmer and make it work. Hampton Bay and Lithonia were (2) of the only companies we could find that clearly listed compatible dimmers with their product. However, we were nervous because HD added a letter in their Lutron dimmer code. The dimmer we used was the DVCL-153P-WH and these fixtures work wonderful with it. The bonus of these fixtures for us was that they are very aesthetically pleasing. The cylinder is very small and looks clean when installed. I was surprised at how heavy the fixture was (not in a bad way) but in a quality material way. The pivot joint of the arm and the swivel feel very solid and secure and the fixture holds its position well. We were also worried that the beam spread would be too narrow but we were glad to see that there was a decent spread on the fixture. We mounted (3) on a 4' track in a small hallway. We could have gotten away with using only (1) but we tried to light both sides of the closet and then a wall storage piece on the other side of the wall. The fixture feels nice, looks nice, and works nice. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for low wattage, dim-able, modern track heads! Hopefully they last as long as we're hoping : ) July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value on LED track lights I looked at many LED track light fixtures at Home Depot and other vendors. This fixture is sleek, compact, and provides a contemporary look for a very affordable price. It's also easy to install. May 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Attractive, unobtrusive, but do not work in sync I purchased six of these lights to go on same track. Mechanism in two lights is a couple of seconds quicker to activate than four others, so they don't all come on at same time. Not ideal, but I did not return them. March 24, 2016
