This is the second Windward fan that I have purchased. It is not available in the stores so you need to order in online and it is worth the couple of days to wait for it. It is quiet and best of all it has a thermostat that works perfect. The remote makes it so easy to turn on/off, set the temp, turn on/off the light and reverse the fan! I did have it professionally installed in my new sunroom ~ It was up in a couple of minutes without any complaints.
I can't say enough about this fan. It is so much bang for the buck!

The fan was reasonable easy to install. It's looks sleek and attractive. It's quiet and very affective. I love it and would certainly recommend it.

I was looking for a plain, but nicely designed ceiling fan for my living room-dining room area that didn't break the bank. I was a little apprehensive about the remote, not being an electrician and viewing fans online, but I showed the link to my electrician and he said it looked okay. And it was on sale, yay! Installation was very straight forward, esp. since the fixture that the Windward replaced was attached to a T-bar. I'm liking the remote, the fan is whisper quiet, the design nicely unobtrusive (I have a lot of art work on my walls). My only reservation is the light itself is a fluorescent ring which is a bit harsh for dining. Later, visiting my sister, I discovered that she has the same exact fan in her bedroom, and has had it for five years. That speaks well for its durability.

So I have been trying to find ceiling fans for my three upstairs bedrooms for a while. And these were always my favorite....but price (x3) was a bit steep. They went on sale and I bought them. They came to the house pretty quickly and safely. We installed them flush mount (which is only 14inches from ceiling to bottom of light - but you must level the box as there's no downrod). And I love them. (I should remark that I had this fan in my room in my parents' house) but this one has the temperature sensing feature and you can set the fan to come on and off based on temp....unfortunately no dimmer on this one. We installed three - one started up perfect, one would flicker the light very time the fan changed to high (sure as the instructions say - this issue stopped within 24 hours on its own), the last one apparently had a broken sensor - so when we turned it on it went to high fan and light on and wouldn't respond to anything. We called the number in the packet, emailed our receipt and got a new part in the mail. They said they shipped instructions....but they didn't. Luckily we just took the fan apart, making note of where everything went, and replaced the part they had sent us and put it back together - voila! They all work wonderfully - they don't shake or flicker - the light is plenty bright enough, and the breeze far reaching in my 100-160 sqft bedrooms. I'd buy them again if I had more rooms for them! oh and the reversibility is on the remote I accidentally hit it and it is SO EASY.

I bought 3 of these fans in 2008, and two of them (the ones we rarely use) have worked flawlessly after 7 years. The main fan, which we run pretty much all the time, still runs, but on only one speed, Low. The lights work as well, and so it's not a problem of the controller reaching the fan. It's just that the fan is no longer adjustable. We looked for service, repair and other options online but came up empty handed. Wish we could give a higher recommendation—and we have to buy another fan now—but we'd like to find out how to make the one-gone-wrong work again before investing more in Hampton Bay and the Winward II 54" fan.

I received the fan in record time and installed it - with help, it was too heavy and no lip to rest the fan while wiring - it took two of us. Directions were poor at best. This is my 13 fan install so I have some experience. After installation, I turned on the fan which had only warp speed. I could not turn off the fan with the remote. Checked to make sure the remote and receiver were coded the same - they were.
I called the 800 need help number enclosed in the box only to be told I had a bad receiver and they were sending out another as well as a globe that arrived cracked. I was emailed instructions on how to remove and install the receiver on the fan - which meant - Yes, I had to take it down and reinstall the fan. When I complained, I was told that was not their problem , I was talking to the Hampton Bay Hot line. Since I live alone, I had to find someone to help me. It took 9 nine days for the receiver to arrive and my nephew, a Licensed AC man pulled the old fan down , put in the new receiver and put it back up. - I turned on the fan - - Nothing - Zip. We took the fan back down and checked the electrical which was fine. We reinstalled this same fan a THIRD time t and turned it on. Still nothing. I emailed Home
Depot and have yet to get any response.. I finally called the complaint line and spoke to an employee - who assured me I have another bad receiver and they were going to resend another back out. She also assured me when I received it Home depot would send an employee out to fix and install the fan again. Really - third time is the charm? Since when is it the consumer's responsibility to fix a faulty item and spent their time and effort for three attempts? Apparently Hampton Fan and Home Depot do. Not Happy with anything, product, or the customer service I have yet to receive..

Good looking fan but 90% of the time the remote doesn't work. Even with new batteries and standing under the fan. I bought three and all suffer the same problem.
