There may be a problem with your receiver. Since my fan was still under warranty, I was able to get a new receiver from GP warranty. You may to check with Home Depot about getting a new receiver if your warranty has expired.

Answer: 
Make sure the DIP switches on the remote and the fan housing match. If still doesn't work after that and a new battery, I'd contact the manufacturer directly. The remote for this fan is complex and unique, and probably not readily available in local stores.

We are experiencing a clicking/slapping noise when the fan is on high speed. It seems it comes from the motor housing. Had electrician check fan assembly twice - did not help. What could it be?

Sorry for the issue you're having. For the 54in Windward fan make sure the pre-attached blade brackets on the motor housing are retighten. If you did readjust them and the issue still occurs. Please contact the customer service department 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678)

I also have this sound it comes from the ring that the fan blades slide in to the mounting point. it is only for looks the cover. the slight unbalanc or vibration and change in rpm make this ticking sound it is something with this fan I am working on trying to nail down the exact point of the problem

Thank you for your question. This fan features a twist and lock glass bowl. To replace the light bulb, simply unscrew the glass bowl and remove to allow access to the bulb. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value, moves air like a tornado The housing was slightly bent, which created a rubbing noise when it was initially installed. We were able to bend it back into place to make it work normally. The blades make a minimal "whooshing" sound on high speed, but not too bothersome. It moves a lot of air. I am pleased that the motor housing is a heavy duty metal material. The blades are plastic, but that was fine with me. Although the light is fluorescent, it is not harsh. The remote is slightly glitchy, but we don't anticipate abusing it, so hopefully it won't cause too many issues. Installed the fan as a flush mount. November 3, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by powerfull but low light out put this fan was nice but i did not like the low light out put and the 2000k tube. so i got a 4000k tube that are hard to find. and a new ballast to over drive it a tad. works better but not as much as i like. but it helps keep the pc room temps in check with the auto fan speed. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by windward 11 fan the product was very easy to install, and also the instruction were simple. the only thing that i found is the bulb was dead on arrival. i went to home depot to exchange it but there was no stock on this item. the only way is to e-mail home depot so they can send you another bulb. the manufacture should stock home depot with this bulb since they carry the fan assembly. otherwise the fan is a good product since i had to replace the other fan which was also a windward 11 fan also, that fan lasted for over 9 years. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by LOVE THE FAN, but came without remote EASY TO INSTALL, only problem is I've had fan for over three weeks and still have not received a remote to operate it with.....so I don't know yet if the light fixture works or how controls work! Used the form included inside box for missing parts, they said remote was on backorder for three weeks and it did not come with batteries (which I don't understand when the box show batteries on the part list). Went to local Home Depot store, they said they could order me a remote also, but I've yet to received remote.....disappointed with customer service so far. FAN LOOKS GREAT! April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Windward II 54 in. fan installed to replace an old 44 in. single incandescent bulb fan I installed this Windward II fan to replace an old, basic, 4 blade, single incandescent bulb fan that was about 10 years old and made noise. I rated this fan excellent in every category except for ease of installation. The drawback I found with the ease of installation part was that for flush mount, you have to get the electrical box perfectly level because the fan mounting can't compensate for being out of level. If was standard mount (hanging from the small downrod that is included in the box), it would be naturally self-leveling. Since I flush mounted mine in an old-work situation, and the ceiling had been plastered over a few times, and wasn't quite level itself, I had to shim the fan mount the box slightly to make it perfectly level. I understand that there isn't much they can do about this, because it's the nature of the beast when flush mounting, but I spent 1/2 of my time during the install trying to get the old-work ceiling fan box brace to sit more level, and then when that failed, shimming the fan mount a little to get a level fan. That being said, I installed a 2015 Windward IV 52" fan last year, and the remote control receiver for that fan was a separate piece, and even though I read before installing that one, in a bunch of Home Depot reviews, that they had put the receiver in backwards, and then couldn't get the canopy cover over it, I DID THE SAME THING! lol. In this fan, the 2016 Windward II, the remote control receiver was already installed in the fan motor housing. This sped up wiring everything tremendously. You just had to connect 1 black and 1 white wire from the fan motor housing to your home wiring, and ground everything. The light kit, naturally, came with wires pre-terminated with snap together plugs, so that was as simple as plugging the wires together. As far as a review of the fan itself, naturally, the Windward II blows the old, cheapo fan out of the water. The motor is very quiet-you hear the air whooshing by from the fan blades much, much more than the motor itself. I don't see any wobble to the fan at all, but then again, with it being flush mount and bolted right to the fan box, I'm not really sure how much wobble would be seen if it was out of balance. Compared to the 52 in Winward IV I installed in an almost identical room last year, the 54" Winward II wins hands down. From the specs, the 54" winward II blows 7500 cfm of air compared to a little over 6000 cfm for the 52" one. It looks to me like the fan blades are about the same length, or close to it, but the center section, or light kit is wider, which moves the blades out more. The big difference is in the light kit. The winward IV had 2 23 watt gu-24 cfl bulbs. The light output was a little dim, and I had to use lamps in the room to augment the ceiling fan light. Other reviewers said the same thing. This Winward II fan, however, came with a 30 watt CFL circle bulb. I'm not a fan of having an odd size bulb, especially since there is only one of them (so if it burns out suddenly, you're in the dark!), but this fan throws out a lot more light, and a lot more evenly than the winward IV fan. They should retrofit this style of light kit to the Winward IV. My only wish here, of course, was that the light was an LED. With LED's light output and longevity, I think all ceiling fans should come with them. CFL's were great when they were first out, but LED's should be sending them the way of the 8 track immediately! My other worry about this fan is the remote control receiver. Since there are no manual controls for the fan, if the remote receiver fails, since it was installed in the motor housing right out of the box, it may be more difficult, or impossible to replace if it fails. And the fan will be dead in the water until you get the remote receiver replaced! Too make this fan "perfect" for my needs, I wish it had a decent LED light kit, had an access slot for the remote receiver, in case it ever needed to be replaced, it could be done easily, and be offered in 56", or more. All together, the selection of fans 56" or bigger is never very good, and if you look at the sizing recommendations for ceiling fans, most rooms could probably use a fan around 56" or so.
