I am replacing an existing fan which has dimmable lights and adjustable fan speed operated with a wall mounted switch. I like the set up the way it is. Very simple: One 120v hot wire coming into the switch, two 120v hot wires coming out of the switch - one goes to the fan and one goes to the lights, both adjustable/dimmable.

How can I wire around the receiver to make this happen? I have dimmable LED bulbs that I intend to use.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The Windward can be installed the way you are intending. To install with the wall switch you would simply not install the receiver and wire the fan directly to the wall switch wires. Please note that not all wall switches are created equal and some may cause the fan to hum. We recommend the Hunter "All-Fan 3-Speed Fan/Light Dual-Slide Ceiling Fan Control" model #27182. This wall switch works the best without creating a humming noise that other wall switches have produced. Also, please note that this fan includes GU24 pin based bulbs, not standard base (screw-in type bulbs). Read Less

Answer:
Sorry to hear that you are having an issue removing the globe. Here are some tips for removing the bowl: Using rubber gloves, grip the edges of the globe (not the center) and push up a bit while turning the globe. Another thing that may help would be to lightly knock around the edges of the bowl with your knuckles (like knocking on a door). The video on the product page (included in the photos) shows Read More

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely nice fan. We already had a windward III of undeterminable age, it finally gave up. This one was in stock at home depot, went up like a breeze (pun intended). We had originally wanted white, but the stainless steel look is excellent. 'looking forward to replacing several other old dogs with these slick units. Definitely would recommend this fan to others looking for an energy efficient, quiet, classy, good looking, did I mention quiet?.. Get one or two... they're grrrreeat. November 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stylish and modern looking fan This was my second fan of this style. Love the modern looks and remote control for temperature and light control. Well written instructions for easy installation. May 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good fan and thermostat system, instructions ok Love fans and thermostatic feature. Installed two fans the first one I assembled and removed everything on the ground before I put it up and that definately helped. September 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Change to a 2amp fuse - most bad reviews because of light and/or fuse issue The fan pushes a lot of air. It looks nice. Most ceiling fan light combos have poor lighting. I have bought 2 others from the same family of fans. Nobody tells you and I don't know why the company doesn't change out the fuses, but anytime you hear about a fan with remote having problems, not just this brand, it's because of the fuse. They give you a 1.5 amp fuse when they should be putting in a 2 amp fuse. A few of the phone support guys know about this while a majority don't know, but I knew about this when I purchased and Home Depot gave me 2 2amp fuse at no charge. Never had a problem with them, so I did the same with this and works great. Not the best lighting. Not sure why they all put in such low light fixtures. I heard an electrician say he would never buy a fan with remote. He said mine would die in two weeks. Its been a year for the first one, 3 months for the second one and a couple of weeks for the third one. NO problems at all with any of them and whisper quiet pushing lots of air. I would recommend these fans if you don't care so much about the light, but DO ask for a 2 amp fuse. I almost gave it a 3 because of the lighting and the company not using a 2 amp fuse from the start, but this is a great fan. Also, I've seen so many people not install the fan properly. If you have parts left over, you didn't install it correctly. Yes, that includes the seal/ ring. I don't know what to call it, but if you don't use it, don't complain if you have problems. I've seen handymen have left over parts and you ask why and they say you don't need them. Well, that's when you have problems. Install it correctly and it will work. One fan in large kitchen on a flat ceiling, one in living room on a sloped ceiling, and one in a bedroom with flat ceiling. April 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bronze Ceiling Fan - Great product! Looks really nice, works well. Adds a nice light to the room with a nice cool breeze. April 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy, love this fan! I purchased 4 of these fans. I installed 2 of them, one in my child's room and one in my extra bedroom. I am very pleased with the contemporary look of the fan. I love having a remote controlled fan/light. You can create two different looks with this fan depending on ceiling height. I was able to do both looks. Assembly was really straight forward. The directions are clear and easy to follow. The first fan installation took about 1.5hours for me, but it was the first time I installed a fan. The second took no time at all! When the fan is on high, medium, and low setting there is no noise! May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product Easy to install, Looks great for the price Just wish the light had a dimmer function. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So far so good. No complaints after one month of use. The fan was a little more challenging to install than expected but got it installed and works fine. The remote is a nice feature looking into buying a wall control so that we can have one ok the wall and the remote near the bed. The fan is super quiet which is the one thing I was worried about May 24, 2016
