I have a place in Jamaica, where electricity is around US$0.50 per Kilowatt hour! compared to my $0.12 in Florida. Too expensive to run A/C. This unit was not the simplest to install, but makes up for all the effort in power savings. I estimate its paid for itself in the year I have it running almost 24/7. A regular A/C motor fan uses around 45 watts regardless of speed but these DC motor unit uses 3 watts at speed 1 and around 25 watts at full hurricane speed (6). Great buy and is attractive too, not to mention no noise or humming! Well worth the price. The remote does all the work but don't loose it...Good price compared to other DC fans.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tommyj Nice fan
I installed this in my master bedroom. During the summer we run the fan all night long so I wanted something energy efficient...and you can't beat this. It's nearly 3x the cfm/watt as any other energy star ceiling fan.
Only issue I had was one screw hole to hang the glass for the light fixture was to small...and the Decorative screw wouldn't thread. Just used another screw in its place. If you pay attention you'll notice...but that requires paying attention, which no one does.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dave Super quiet, great-looking fan
I bought two of these fans and they are great! They look amazing and they're the most quiet fans I've ever (not) heard. The only thing I can't comment on is installation as our house builder did the install for us.
Everyone who comes in to new house comments on the fans and asks where we got them

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by KateB Sadly, had to return
I searched everywhere for the perfect ceiling fan. I was very excited when I found this model. I loved the way it looked, which is something I can't say for 90% of the ceiling fans on the market.
Unfortunately, we had to return the fan. The motor didn't work on the fan we received. Also, the construction was poor. The base of the fan grinded against the piece on top of it when the fan was on.
Since this model is available online only, I had to go to the store to pick out a different model since I couldn't wait to have a replacement shipped.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MariEli GREAT FAN!
This fan is very stylish and has a contemporary look which went well with my decor. I placed it in our master bedroom and I love everything about it (its remote controlled, light is just perfect not too bright but not too low, the finish looks very elegant, the wide range of speeds). This fan is also SUPER SILENT! I bought this fan for $160 and after searching online and in stores for over a month I can certainly say that no other fan with the same quality and look retails for that price. Overall it was a great purchase and we are thinking about buying a second one for our guest room.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Paradise Loving my large room fan!
Easy to install and very quiet! If it continues to be this quiet, we will be extremely happy. The blades are darker than I expected but still compliments our room. Ordered online and arrived 2 days earlier than expected.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jene Best purchase ever!
I had the fan professionally installed and it looked pretty easy. The fans look fantastic and the price is about 60% cheaper than other DC fans. I bought two and returned one because it wouldn't balance. I replaced it and the third one was perfect. Absolutely love these fans.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GaryG Excellent Value
I purchased this fan at the same time as a Hampton Bay Argenta. I like the looks (cool factor) of the Argenta more, but the Hampton Bay Winfield fan has a lot going for it. I spent weeks shopping for fans and the Winfield represents the best combination of value and performance I could find. There is no other fan in this price range with a DC motor and an energy star rating.
I believe the 6-speeds and the unbelievably quiet operation is due to the DC motor. The 6-speed range allows you to micro adjust the speed from a very slight breeze to a significant amount of air movement. We found that speeds 1 through 3 are great for sleeping and 4 through 6 are great for cooling the room on hot days.
The Winfield has a sizeable light bowl with small CFLs (13w each). The light output is good, but not overwhelming. A typical bedroom would require supplemental lighting with lamps if you like a well-lit room. The nice part is that you do not feel like you are staring into the sun when the light is on. We have 8-foot ceilings, so the light is just low enough that it might be intolerable if it was too bright.
The Winfield came with all hardware and mounting instructions. It was easy to assemble and mount. The only problem we had was that one of the thumbscrews that fastens the light bowl to the fan motor was defective. We contacted HD customer service and they sent a new package of hardware within days. It is worth noting that this fan comes with only one power wire, so you do not need (cannot use) more than one switch. We made mistake of allowing an electrician to install separate wall switches (one to operate the light and another to operate the fan and adjust speeds). You will operate the light and select fan speed via the supplied remote.
We plan to purchase another Winfield for the master bedroom due to the excellent value and extremely quiet operation. I highly recommend this fan.
