This fan has an electronically commutated (or DC) motor. Very quiet, no hum, and very efficient. This is equivalent to going to LED lights. You have to go through a short process to get it started up the first time, but instructions were easy to follow. I replaced the included CFL bulbs with LEDs and they now are dimable (my remote had the little switch to make lights dimable mis-labeled). The lights have a strange base, but I found inexpensive ones at Walmart. My globe was broken upon arrival, but I called the number and they sent a new one within a week.

First, the fan is absolutely gorgeous. It worked fine for a few years, then suddenly stopped working. I followed the instructions to a tee to try to reprogram the fan. No luck. Took everything apart and basically reinstalled everything. Again no luck. At this point, the fan is in a box.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by rat Great Fan!
This fan is great! It has enough power to cool off the room on a low setting and the light is nice and bright.
It was very easy to install ( and we are amateurs) and looks great.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Krishna What I hoped for!
I have a place in Jamaica, where electricity is around US$0.50 per Kilowatt hour! compared to my $0.12 in Florida. Too expensive to run A/C. This unit was not the simplest to install, but makes up for all the effort in power savings. I estimate its paid for itself in the year I have it running almost 24/7. A regular A/C motor fan uses around 45 watts regardless of speed but these DC motor unit uses 3 watts at speed 1 and around 25 watts at full hurricane speed (6). Great buy and is attractive too, not to mention no noise or humming! Well worth the price. The remote does all the work but don't loose it...Good price compared to other DC fans.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thor quiet, efficient, and attractive fan
- Still too new to objectively rate quality-over-time, but out-of-box quality was very good.
- A cinch to install with minimal skill and tools.
- DC motor is efficient (uses very little electricity) and very quiet (no AC motor hum). Five blades (as opposed to four) push more air. Six speeds offer a great range of choices, from barely noticeable to hurricane (lol).
- Light dome is frosted glass and large, so light is even and bright, but nor harsh. Uses two compact fluorescent bulbs, which are included.
- It would be hard to overstate the convenience of having a remote for a ceiling fan. And this remote is very intuitive: drop-dead easy to understand and use. A four year old child or a drunk could use it effortlessly.
- The style and appearance are contemporary and attractive; tasteful, not gaudy. Clean, sleek lines.
Overall, we are very pleased.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tommyj Nice fan
I installed this in my master bedroom. During the summer we run the fan all night long so I wanted something energy efficient...and you can't beat this. It's nearly 3x the cfm/watt as any other energy star ceiling fan.
Only issue I had was one screw hole to hang the glass for the light fixture was to small...and the Decorative screw wouldn't thread. Just used another screw in its place. If you pay attention you'll notice...but that requires paying attention, which no one does.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BlueBlue Beautiful & Powerful minus the Defect
The first one I bought had motor problems, but after exchanging it for another one I have to say that this is a wonderful fan. It looks beautiful and is powerful and quiet. Even on the highest speed (6th), the fan operates smooth and fairly quiet. Figuring out that it was a motor issue rather than an install issue was frustrating or else I would have given it a five star.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dave Super quiet, great-looking fan
I bought two of these fans and they are great! They look amazing and they're the most quiet fans I've ever (not) heard. The only thing I can't comment on is installation as our house builder did the install for us.
Everyone who comes in to new house comments on the fans and asks where we got them
