Cumberland 10 ft. x 8 ft. wood storage bldg.

(1) I understand this shed is made of wood; please be more specific. Is it made from laminated plywood? From single sheet plywood? From particle board? Specifically, what kind of "wood?" (2) What is TOTAL cost, including five heavy duty, treated runners on which shed will sit, shingles, and installation by Home Depot?
Asked by: Anonymous
The siding for the buildings are all Smart Side siding made by Louisiana Pacific. Please refer to your local Home Depot store for local pricing.

Cumberland 10 ft. x 8 ft. Wood Storage Building Kit-DISCONTINUED is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Home Owner I had a large pallet dropped off at my curb. After having to disassemble the pallet to move the contents to my back yard, where I need to assemble the shed. I discovered in the contents of boards and plywood that I played over a $1000.00 for that there were no numbers or letters to identify the pieces of 2x3s. I am handy enough with a saw and tape measure to have made it myself. None of the pieces are numbered nothing is marked. Now I have a $1000.00 pile of sticks and pressboard in my backyard. It is up to me to measure each piece individually and put this shed together. If I have to figure out where each piece go, I could have bout the lumber and a better grade of plywood and had it done in a day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cumberland 10 Ft. X 8 Ft. Storage Building Kit The shed was delivered on one (1) 700 lb. pallet that was about 8 ft. long, which made it very awkward for the delivery company to unload at a residence even with a pallet jack and a lift-gate on a 20 ft. delivery truck. At some point between the time it was palletized and the time it was delivered to my house, someone must have tried to lift one end with a standard 4 ft. forklift blade thus making it tip and forcing a forklift blade through the middle of the 4' x 8' plywood roof sheathing, which was the first part stacked on the pallet. Just above this hole in the sheathing was one of the 2" x 3" studs, which was also cracked. Rather than file a claim with the freight carrier or delivery service for unforeseen damages, I simply patched the sheathing with some sheet metal and ripped another 2x3 out of a spare 2 x 4 stud that I had. I am an experienced framing contractor and felt extremely confident that I could assemble this fairly small storage shed by myself in a reasonable period of time, particularly after reading on the website that it could be assembled in as little as 2-1/2 hours. Installation took me about 16 hours counting the floor I constructed of treated 2x4's and 3/4" plywood. This also includes the time it took me to make sure I had all the parts checked-in, sorted and numbered, tar paper and drip caps installed. I still haven't installed the doors, shingles or painted the shed yet. But that will be done this next weekend. If you have a crew of about 6 men experienced in constructing this brand of shed, I would agree that they may be able to assemble in 2-1/2 to 3 hours what I have done in 16 hrs. Besides the inconvenience of the forklift damage and a couple of minor errors in the installation instructions I found everything to fit perfectly and I'm very satisfied with my investment. Had I built a shed this size from scratch I would have spend a lot more of my time and money. So overall I would recommend this product to anyone in need of a fast, convenient, well built shed kit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Little Shed I received my shed in a timely basis. The shipping co. called a few days in advance and explained how to accept the shed. They said it would be delivered curbside. When the guys brought it, they asked if I would like it beside the garage. I was surprised, and stated that would be great. The lumber package was nicely bundled, wrapped in plastic and in great shape. The exterior of the package even said I had to add shingles and paint and even stated the quantities needed. My wife and I broke the package down, and separated all of the components by size and dimensions. The components are lettered in the instructions. I lot of crazy letter combinations, like, OY, TM, etc. No rhyme or reason to me, but I guess to the folks that make the buildings it makes sense. We realized we were short 3 components. My advice is to have some spare material around. Some 2x4's and some 1x4 will probably be handy to have in the event your package has some shorted material. The nails and screws were supplied, nicely bundled inside the package. There are plenty of those, so you won't need any extra. I had my brother come up to help me erect the package. He is pretty good at building things and I'm average. It took us about a day and a half to build it out. That includes shingling the roof. It was not difficult once you got into the swing of the lettering system. The studs are stamped at the mill, so those don't need labeling. The other components are not, so I would suggest labeling them as you break the package down. My best suggestion is to make sure you square your framing as you go, and double and triple check it. This will pay off because the structural rigidity is supplied by the installation of the 4'x8' exterior siding. If you are out of square at this step it will make for a frustrating experience. Also, your shed won't look to good because you will be cutting the edges off the siding to line it up to the corners. The material was of good quality. The stud walls are 2X3's, so don't be dissappointed. The quantities required to finish the paint and shingles were very accurate. When finished, it makes a great shed. No cutting was required and no figuring the roof cuts, so that was a real time saver. I did a takeoff to build my own shed, and I think this kit will save you around $200-$400 vs. your own material. All in all a nice little project with a good ending.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 10 X 10 Shed No missing parts. Assembly of components is straight forward except the gable. Following the limited instructions the gables were not the same causing a sagging roof. Large gaps between the back walls and the roof panels. Wall studs are flimsly and hard to nail to the floor. The door hung with ease. Overall very poor construction. It seems the pros at Home Depo had the same issues with their display model. Same gaps ect. Home depot was veryhlpfull in obtaining this product. They went the extra mile.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice shed! My family and I put this shed up in 1 1/2 days. The directions were very clear and the structure is very strong and solid. We received alot of compliments! I recommend it to anyone. It also provides alot of space. We put our two lawn mowers and will put our outdoor furniture in the shed too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from More than adequate as an outdoor shed Product packaging was sufficient and the kit was complete. A couple of the 2x3's were slightly warped, but still usable. Directions were clear and included illustrations that facilitated assembly greatly.Took about 7 hours to perform assembly, mostly done alone, but with help erecting walls and roofing. Doors were a little tricky, but came out OK. Primed surface is just that... primed. Painting definitely required. I don't expect any problems with this shed as it seems durable. Would have liked kit to have included some method of shelving, but I can take care of that later. Shipped on a flatbed and forklift carried to my assembly site.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cumberland Shed The shed came in very promptly, earlier than advised which was a plus. Very easy to put together and received everything as promised. No damaged parts were received. We were able to put it together in 1 1/2 days. Would recommend this to anyone else. You don't have to be a carpenter to put it together
