Answer:
I'm handy, but not a pro. It took me less than a week to build the kit. I did it mostly alone, I only needed some help in erecting the assembled walls. Shingling and painting took me about another week not including a few days of weather delays.

Answer:
The wood comes primed so technically no you don't have to paint it as the wood has some protection, but if you want a full 10 years plus out of the shed I would recommend it. Not to mention the prime is not a great color of light yellow.

2x3 - don;t think they are pressure treated. Do yourself a favor, upgrade the side floor frame to 12 foot pieces. The setup comes with a 4 foot and 8 foot piece for that span.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 194 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I purchased this shed on 10/9/16 and it took me a week to build. The kit only had 4 straight boards in it, the rest were warped or twisted. After a few trips to Home Depot to swap out twisted lumber for straight lumber I got annoyed with the process and decided to build it with what I was supplied with. I learned that it's very hard to build a shed square when all your lumber is twisted. One of the roofing boards was cut wrong, so I have a gap along the peak of the roof, which sucks, but I only had a helper for a couple of hours, so we had to make due and build it with what was supplied. In my opinion, after building this kit, I would say this is a $500 shed kit tops. If you pay more then that for it like I did, you will be very disappointed on what you wasted your money on. I sure hope the warranty covers building it with the twisted lumber supplied, because I have a strong feeling that this shed will not last long. October 27, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by majestic ehhh First of all, shed kit was delivered damaged by home depot, have pictures to back that up. A 4' x 8' roof piece on one side was cut wrong from manufacturer, was not cut square, which made it very frustrating when everything else fit pretty easily together, although flimsy. we had to work around badly cut piece on the roof and adapt, which was the worst area to get to. Why manufacturer didn't pack the floor piece on the top of package, I'll never know, it makes no sense that we had to unpack a couple of layers to get to floor, when the floor is supposed to be built first. why they don't say, if not installing on concrete foundation, that some cinder blocks and three or four 4" x 4" x 8" pieces are needed for sub floor, also. smh August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice shed This was a fun project to build. I was missing a few parts but the local Home Depot took care of ordering the parts for me. Instructions call for 4x4 skids if you build it that way but I decided to use 4x6's. I didn't really like the metal corners so I ripped some trim boards to use on the corners. The only problem I had with the shed was that the two back wall pieces of siding weren't the same thickness. One piece was about a 1/32 to 1/16 thicker than the other one but it's in the back and doesn't show. August 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for what we wanted... The perfect "garden shed"...with additional storage in the loft above and under the work bench on the back wall. (We also mounted an outside work bench for messier potting on the left side wall.) Relatively easy to assemble - but not in one day, as your video tutorial says. July 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not The Greatest The shed is definitely a good value. Yes, there are other things you need to purchase but overall, it's not that expensive. I went to a Home Depot with at least 3 of these in stock and chose the best looking package. Even doing this there was concealed damage and there was a lot of water inside the package as well. One of the 4x8 sheets for the roof was damaged so I needed to purchase another one from Home Depot. Installation went fairly smoothly. My dad and I had everything finished but the shingles in 1 day. Some of the boards were warped, but we managed to use everything. Overall I'd recommend this product because of the value, but there are definitely things that could be improved. October 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Just a tip A number of other reviews commented on warped boards. I took the time to drive to the 4 Home Depots in my area until I found a store that stored them in an overhead covered area and away from prevailing winds. Even though the shed is wrapped in plastic, the plastic gets damaged via handling. With no chance of rain or snow accumulation on the shed while it sat waiting to be purchased, mine had only a single board that showed any significant warping. I recommended this shed but only if you have realistic expectations about the quality of the materials. The door in particular seems like it is going to be particularly susceptible to water damage over time. I didn't change the color much from the primer color so ended up overbuying a gallon of paint based on the directions. Boxes of screws were not included in the kit despite the directions. June 14, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad decision Many of the boards (studs) were warped, twisted, as were some of the OSB panels. We had to replace some at the local lumber yard. Those we did end up using, caused out of square conditions in both the walls and the roof. The instructions were not always easy to decipher. One of the prior reviews stated that a couple in their 70s were able to complete the shed in a couple of days. Not the case with us, and we are not in our 70s. Perhaps these were contractors/carpenters with all of the required tools. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Very dissatisfied with the purchase. October 4, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by I just put it up.This shed is very cheaply made. The instructions contradict itself in numerous sections. The 3 inch nails were not in the hardware so I had to get my own. The front shed panels were cut wrong which left me uneven no matter how I adjusted it. A good price but not a good buy. October 27, 2016
