Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Good solid shed & excellent manual. The manual that came with the packing was even more detailed than the online version and was an excellent help to this "weekend handyman". I added extra floor joists to make for 12" centres and substituted 10' 2x4s in the perimeter of the floor frame. Also, I put on a steel roof so the Ontario snow loads will slide off more easily. The finshed product is quite stable - the wall panels as well as the wall frames make for a solid building. Very impressed with the manual though. Excellent directions and diagrams. August 3, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great started kit Bought this kit as well as the 4' extention, we build it on patio blocks / frame, with 2 x 4' beams and insolated and dry walled the inside, it makes for a great guesthouse / pool cabana. To use as a regular tool shed I guess it could work with all items included, I would be careful about the snow load, or re-inforce right from the start to avoid potential problems. It was easy to assmble, the included instructions were not always clear, but any body somewhat handy can easily put this together in one week-end. August 14, 2009
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by No surprises, looks good I just built this. It took about 15-17 hrs working alone, not including installing the roof shingles. My suggestions and comments: - the instructions were excellent. None were included in my package but they were easily downloaded. - make sure you factor in the cost of the roofing and flooring which isn't included. About $200 altogether. - the Phillips head screws that come with it are a pain, I opted to use all Robertsons. It saves some aggravation. - the way the walls are designed leave sides of the 2x4 sub-floor exposed and subject to the elements. It would be better is the siding extended 3.5" lower to cover it. I recommend installing flashing around the perimeter of the subfloor before installing the walls. - using an air nailer would speed the framing. I didn't have one but it would prob have saved an hour or so. - there were a couple of twisted wall studs in the package. No big deal, I just used them. It's true, as some of these reviews say, that you could buy the materials and build a shed from scratch that's stronger. However, if you're like me - a weekend handyman with limited time - this is a good option and the end product is pretty good. January 20, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value, but I have some recomendations Good value for the money,if you are a handyman, you could build it stronger for about the same money. Yes the shed is 10 x 10 but it comes in a bundle that is 4 x 8 feet and weighs 950 lbs. Because of this 8-foot size the floor frame is in 2 pieces (7 foot and 3-foot) and then joined together to get the 10 feet. I would recommend buying some 10-foot length 2x4 instead... the floor will be stronger and remain straight....mine has a dip at the joint. Only the fllor-frame is included, but not the floor.... I used 5/8" OSB. I did not end up using their supplied nails because they bent too easily, I ended up using 3" long deck screws. Shingles are also not included. It is designed for 24" centers on the floor, roof and walls. I went with 12" centers in the floor and used some leftover piecet o beef up the walls. Total time to assemble with 2 people was approx 16 hours. Note that the trim is not painted like shown in picture.... it is just 2x3 wood. If you buy this shed, I strongly recommend that you: 1- rent a framing-nail-gun 2- buy six 2x4 x 10-feet for the floor (or ten if you go on 12" centres) 3- build the floor with 12" centres (once it's made, you can't add it later. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by You get what you pay for.. Overall this is a decent purchase for $700. As many review state, there is some issues with twisted/warped wood. The kit is built with 2x3's which makes it feel flimsy while building it. Handy Home could bump their price by $25 and jump to to 2x4's for a much better product. Anyhow, even with 2x3's once the walls are secured to the floor, the trusses are secured, and the roof sheeting in place, the shed definitely firms up. It is difficult keeping the shed square, but keep in mind it's just that, a shed. Your lawn mower doesn't care! I'm a fairly experienced carpenter and kept mine within workable tolerances throughout the build. I used the treated for kit included with the shed. It isn't bad but I would recommend adding additional joists for a stronger floor, or use 3/4" plywood for your flooring. You will need to buy about 5lbs of nails or screws, plywood for your flooring, and shingles (I personally put down tar paper, drip edge, then architectural shingles). I also added a second spring lock for the door as I wanted my doors to stay tighter to the shed when closed. Again, not a bad purchase, overall I'm happy with it. April 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Shed Great shed, it was a bit of a pain to put together but for $650 bucks I really can't complain. You will need to build a floor, and shingle the roof. Reenforcing the doors is pretty helpful as well. Overall I am really happy with it. If you are putting it together yourself you will need a friend. It is certainly helpful if you are very mechanically inclined. December 9, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Don't let the photo fool you! I have to say I guess I didn't read the small print! The shed came with no floor, the wood was in poor condition, it was warped, broken, cracked. There was no roof. If I had purchased one I guess it would not have been a problem, but I purchased four. All of them were in equally poor condition. It took 6 days to build all four. We have to completely re-paint, roof, drill holes for floor ventilation, not what we expected. March 24, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Flimsy I was very disappointed with this shed kit. The studs were all warped and twisted. Not a single one was cut to an exact length. The panels on the door side were cut an entire inch shorter than the pre built doors. we had to tear the doors apart and cut them down to make them fit. This kit does not come with decking or roofing, despite what we were told at the store. I would recommend buying 3" and 2" screws, and use those instead of the super cheap hardware that is included (I was able to bend a nail with my bare hands). For having to modify or replace most of the warped materials, I wish we would have just bought straight, quality materials, and built our shed from scratch. Definitely not worth the money!
