Product Overview

Protect your yard from nuisance animals 24/7 with the Havahart Spray Away Motion Activated Sprinkler. Spray Away uses only water and noise to effectively and instantly repel animals that enter your garden, yard and pond area. Spray Away works by detecting an animal's heat and movement with its infrared sensor. Once the unit senses the animal in its path it releases a short and startling burst of water to scare the animal off your property. This motion activated sprinkler will defend up to 1,900 sq. ft. with no harmful chemicals. The exclusive Adjustable Sensor Eye coupled with nine different sensitivity settings makes Spray Away the most innovative animal repellent sprinkler on the market. Just point the Adjustable Sensor Eye up or down to sense the animal. Choose from nine sensitivity settings to target your specific animal and distance. Havahart has also made Spray Away easy to place in your yard with its Step-in stake design. Simply, step down into the foot stirrup and easily insert the stake in your desired area. Unlike other motion activated sprinkler that leak water; Spray Away was designed with leak free engineering in mind. Spray Away has only one hose connection directly on the body of the unit to prevent leaking. Its smart warning system, Spray Away's LED indicator light will flash when it senses movement, and to alert you when batteries are running low so there's time to replace them and ensure your yard will never be unprotected.

  • Dual protection settings 9 sensitivity settings plus custom sight settings
  • Exclusive adjustable sensor eye adjusts to any size animal and any terrain

I am very pleased with the unit with keeping deer away but if you have a dog that loves water like a retriever, it may take the opportunity to come and play and get a drink like my neighbor buddy does sometimes. Which I do not mind at all. Read Less

You can not turn it off. In fact, it is hooked up to your garden hose which will have to be turned on for this to work.

Answer:
Turn off the hose, then activate it 3 or 4 times by moving your hand across the sensor. That empties the water and pressure that is already in the hose. Standing behind it when you do this is a good idea.

The unit itself does not have a on/off switch, we apologize for any inconvenience. If possible, turning the water source off at the beginning of the hose would allow you to walk up to the unit without activating it.

Answer:
I would think it requires pressure from a spigot system. Otherwise, the spray force could be too low.

Answer:
I can only assume it would need the pressure. You can buy a pump, used in fish ponds, to create pressure for the rain barrel. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful than that. You can also purchase it and if it doesn't work, return it back to the store.

Spray Away Motion Activated Sprinkler Animal Repellent is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 89.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from would not recommend...leaks and comes off This product itself is great when it works, but designed really poorly..have bought two and the same problem...the part that attatched to the hose is constantly comeing off and water all over the place. luckily we have been home and up..We then desided to glue it...and you guessed it, last a few weeks and then a small flood near our house..the hose came apart from the sprayer..I would tell people if they want a water flood in there garden or near their house, buy it...The design should be different..the water attatchement at the top..then gravity would be the one thing against it..the pressure just shoves it off..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible hose connector While the sensor is adequate the hose connector is the worst I have ever seen. The connector is apparently designed so the user can not strip the threads. Consequently when tightened even a little, the connector pops off of the hose and if not tightened it will leak like crazy. There is a very fine line where it can be tightened sufficiently to not leak yet still stay connected. If you like to be frustrated you will absolutely love this sprinkler.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from goodbye to all the critters.... I now have 4 of these defending the rear and sides of my house against deer, raccoon, skunks, and chipmunks. My main problem was raccoon tearing up my lawn in the middle of the night. I would have to follow up next morning with tamping down dozens of uprooted clumps of grass, which otherwise would turn brown and die. What's cool is my system is totally passive...I hooked up 12 hour timers so that during the day I can walk by and not get wet. I set them for 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM. The fidgety deer also have learned to stay away from the hostas and other edible plants. Be sure to take everything indoors at the end of the season, and replace batteries annually.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safe for garden non lethal to wildlife Last year I planted hundreds of dollars of plants and shrubs and herbs that were killed or eaten by the stray cats and squirrels. This product has changed the outcome for my flower garden and shade garden. Nothing gets by this product. It works even better than I imagined. Best of all the animals are not injured and my garden is safe. I really enjoy watching how well it works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scares 'em away and keeps 'em away! What a great way to keep pesky critters away from sensitive areas around the home! I set my Spray Away unit up to keep the armadillos from digging up my lawn in the back of my house. It was easy to assemble and set up very simply. I left it on and set the sensor to about half way. When the armadillos get within range they start at the sound and scurry as far away as the can in a hurry. The squirting action also keeps the squirrels from getting to my pecan trees. The intermittent action prevents the critters from becoming accustomed to the unit. I like this non-lethal remedy to keeping pesky critters at bay.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not good for smaller critters like squirrels If you want to scare away larger animals, my guess is this product will work like a dream. However, for smaller critters like squirrels, this product is not effective. Even at the most sensitive setting, the sensor does not pick up the movement of squirrels very accurately. They sometimes pass by the sensor 2 or 3 times before it actually "sees" them and sprays. I watched a squirrel walk past the sensor, climb a tree, grab a fruit and walk back past the sensor. The sensor only went off as it passed by with fruit in its mouth. It made him run a little faster at that point, but then it was too late.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Pest deterrent Had a neighbor and her dog constantly wanting to use my front lawn as waste area without picking up afterwards. Dog urine turning several spots yellow from constant everyday "dog watering" . After asking the dog owner to please stop this with no positive response---now the spray away truly keeps them moving down the sidewalk to other areas. Seems its really hard to find the "right" spot for marking my yard while constantly being sprayed!!!!! Recommending it to all my neighbors so we keep the pest and her dog on their side of the neighborhood

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Use Care when handling! We live on a pond. We get geese and geese are very messy. We started setting this up in our yard to keep the geese out of the yard but while tightening the hose to the machine head, my husband dropped it. And it broke. The machine head is very heavy and the eye sensors very fragile. We called the 800 number and they shipped us out a new one right away and with no hassle. Once we got the new one set up, it works great! It has been keeping the geese out of our yard wonderfully! And it waters the lawn at the same time. No more goose droppings in the yard!
