bought small trap for chipmunks and large one for squirrels, trouble comes when squirrels got into small trap, chewed and chewed on it when caught and i had to do a little bit of fixing of cage to get it to work again. you can not stop squirrel from getting into the small trap but that is the chance you take.small and large traps do the job they are intended for and i would recommend to buy them.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by JohnnyG Quality small trap with an inferior trigger mechanism
All the reviews are correct about this trap. It's small and designed for a chipmunk size animals, seems to be made decent enough to last a long while. The only real problem is the truly poorly designed trigger device. I have larger traps made by this company, and they're very solid and reliable. This one work using the "hope and pray method" for trapping animals. The two rods are supposed to stay touching, then with movement the weight of the animal will shift the rod and allow for the door to fall. This is a real cheap, not reliable and highly annoying. Simply put it's difficult to rely on it. Just wish they make the trigger device similar to their other products, then it's be great. Save the money, get a 5 gal bucket...

Performed fine...the "trip" mechanism that closes the trap door is a little too sensitive, and the door can close on its on from vibration or heavy wind.

The short time we have had it we have caught 21 squirrels. So easy to use. We use peanut butter to catch them. It is great.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Sandy Design Needs improvement
I've had this trap since July 2014 and caught only 2 squirrels in it. Over time, the mechanisms that work together to trap the animal must get warped or rusted or something after extended exposure to the outside elements. Some rust also developed on the door and the frame even though it is warranted not to rust. Also the rod tension mechanism that slides over each other to allow the door to slide shut is much too sensitive. A windy day or a slight bump against the cage will cause the door to slide shut. And after 7 months in the elements, the metal plate that the animal steps on (that allows the tension rods to slide over each other to close the door) sticks and is no longer operational. You now have to hit this lever with a hammer to trigger the door to shut.

I got this trap because I have used Havahart traps before and they are durable and reliable. I use them to relocate squirrels from my property when I get too many of them (they eat all of my bird food). I can get these same traps at a lot of other places in town but this was the best price, and delivery to the store was fast and free. No hassle, great trap...what more can I say?

I bought two of these catch-n-release cages. I had a herd of these creatures in the back yard. My initial goal was 8 but more appeared attacking flower pots and the garden. I took them to the forest reserve on the other side of the tollway about four miles away. So, I know once released, they did not come back.
This was the right size. Any larger, and I might have trapped skunks.
