The Cool Attic 24 in. direct drive 2-speed whole house fan is designed for houses with 1,200 to 1,800 sq. ft. attics. It offers an efficient way to reduce cooling costs, while keeping your whole house more comfortable. It works by pulling fresh air in from the outside and expelling the warm air up into the attic and pushing it out through your attic exhaust vents. This unit requires a minimum of 8-10 sq. ft. of net free exhaust vent area to perform quietly and efficiently. Low vibration direct drive design with a precision-balanced 4-blade aluminum fan assembly contribute to quiet and reliable performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great value for the money I'm glad I bought this fan, it was easy to install by following the instructions. It's not noisy at all, in fact it sounds just like a standard floor type fan. It definitely moves the air thru the house very well. Originally when I opened the box, it was missing the wall switches and Wall Plate that was supposed to be included, but just a quick call to Home Depot customer service corrected that. They immediately contacted the manufacturer which in turn Fedex'd me the missing parts. Overall my experience was great and I have already recommended this fan to my co-workers and My brother. We'll worth the $199.99 I paid. Not only cools down the house, but it also cools down the Attic quickly. June 10, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very happy I chose to install this Whole House Fan!!! I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to install this whole house fan, but I was rather pleased to find out that is wasn't that difficult and was SO worth my effort to install it. I now use this fan almost every day to bring in cool air in the late afternoon or to just feel the breeze through my home...this was a "breeze" for me to install. I expect MUCH cheaper electricity bills now. I have yet to use my AC and much prefer to nice air flow through my home. I was very hesitant on trying to install this, for my expertise is not there, but surely I found that it went very smoothly, right down to installing the 2 switches (ON/OFF and High/Low) turned out to be not a big deal. The only drawback I could possible say about this fan is that it is a bit noisy...well, it is a large fan moving a lot of air, I expected it. But again, I cannot be more happy with the outcome. Even when my wife decides that dinner needed a little extra cooking, either the smell of fish sauce or the smoke of a neglected dinner on the stove, this fan is perfect and does exactly what I expected. From the montly savings in electicity for AC and the awsome effect of having fresh air running through my home, I 100% would recommend this fan for any home. The extras I needed to purchase to complete the installation was: 1. 2 lenghts of 2x3x6' for the base of the fan 2. An electric 2 bay box to install the switch (I actually used a 3 bay and replaced a single switch box that ran my laundry room fan into the 3 bay box that looks great) 3. 25ft of romex to install the power and switch 4. A power tester for the wire (I was being extra careful) Even cutting the whole in the ceiling proved effortless as the instructions were very easy to understand. Very pleased customer. May 7, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Extremely poor workmanship I am shocked at the lack of quality with this product. I had it shipped directly to my home, it arrived 2 days early. Upon opening the box I found the unit covered in dirt and grime. The two mounting "L" brackets where bent and twisted. They where both attached to the wood box with hex screws, each with a washer that was two sizes to big. Following the directions proved impossible. The brackets where so badly tweaked that I couldn't get the fan assembly clear of the shroud...I had to remove the motor instead. I then disassembled the brackets and did my best to straighten them. I remounted them and it became apparent why the brackets where bent, to make them fit the motor! This must have been assembled by an 8 year old. I had reached my limit...back in the box it goes. Point of note...there was no sign of any damage to the box, it wasn't even bent. This unit was put in the box like this. CoolMaster...you guys have some serious quality assurance issues that need addressed. June 7, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great fan, really bad instructions The fan works pretty well, however the instructions leave a lot to be desired. I spent a lot of time figuring out the dimensions of the box so that the fan box would be able to line up so the toe in nails would have enough to grip to. The wiring diagram is not complete (no place to connect the grounding wire to the fan). The fan cover is floppy and requires two people to put it in otherwise you end up bending it. The fan is a little noisy although it really does work well. In addition to the fan issues, my fan had been opened and there were screws missing. The fan was not in the orientation it should have been for shipping. I already had a big hole in my ceiling so I decided to install it in anyway. Really expected better from Home Depot since I paid full price for a new fan. September 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great value I have an attached room that is my work shed and I decided to place the fan in the wall and not the attic. Had to make modifications to the shutter but it works great. Keeps the house cool and we even shut it off at night when it feels 'too cool'. Love it and wish I had purchased it years ago. June 10, 2014
