I bought this to heat a large two-car garage, and it was almost overkill. The heater brought the garage from about 53 to 66 (F) in about 15 minutes of run time. The thermostat is pretty accurate and the heater does a good job of always keeping the garage within 2 degrees of my setting. Outside temperature was 33 degrees (F), and it kept the garage at 62 degrees all night long (while drywall mud dried), using only about 1.5 gallons of kerosene. Overall, I am very impressed with this unit!

I bought this for my garage as I would be working on my truck and it was in the single digits. When shopping I did a lot of research and found that most heaters are made by the same company just under different brandings. So when purchasing it was between this heater and a different model at another store. I chose this one because of the fuel gauge and the dial thermostat. Anyhow onto the features and function
Thermostat- seems to work alright working in the garage it was probably 15 degrees colder a foot off the cement floor than the ceiling. I would have it set low and it would still be running but not to its fault it was just really cold on the floor
-The heat was the real deal as it heated my garage in -5 degrees to well over 70. I was working with my shirt off it was so hot in there.
-Fuel Consumption- So far I am impressed I got probably 16 hours out of a 5 gallon tank and two days of work. I used 1K dyed kerosene
As far as the low rating the first time I lit the torch and the first couple days it worked flawlessly and when it got to the bottom of the tank a large puff of smoke died. I brought the heater out about 2 weeks later filled it up with kerosene and lit it up. It worked for about an hour then let out a big puff of smoke. It kept doing this and would not stay lit. I opened up the heater taking the lid off and started it. It stayed lit for about 3 hours at this point than the same thing happened. I screwed with the PSI gauge on the back and seemed to get it just right but it was a constant struggle to have this thing stay lit. Sometimes 6 PSI is the magic number sometimes 8. Sometimes I have to take the top part of the torpedo off and it will run and others it will just blow smoke. Anyhow the heater is not consistent whatsoever. I have looked up a couple fixes and it does seem to run better when the kerosene is warmer or warmed up compared to just a cold start. Also it was suggest to put a piece of paper or duct tape on the back vent to restrict air flow. I haven't tried the last method however it seems plausible since the flame seems to be getting blown out by the fan (hence why taking the top part seems to work). Anyhow due to the inconsistency of the heater and the fact that it works 30% of the time and I spend more time troubleshooting it rather than working on my car I cannot give it more than 2 stars. When it works boy does it work but it doesnât which is most of the time in my case.
Note: when opening up the heater I took apart everything and it does seem to be well constructed with heavy duty parts. The motor, fuel lines, electrical all seem to be made with quality materials. Also they forgot the part that holds the electrical cord on the side of the heater. I emailed the company and after registering my product they sent me another one right away. Overall the customer service seems to be very good.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by GarageWelder AWESOME HEATER!
I bought this heater for my 3 car garage when I'm doing my welding work and metal fabrication on cold days/nights. Here in SoCal, if the temp reaches down in the 30-40's at night, I was tired of always being too cold to weld. I bought this heater and can't believe how warm it makes the garage! I'm completely satisfied with it. The pros: Warms quickly; adjustable thermostat; draws very little electricity in case I want to connect it to a Honda EU2000 generator during power failures. Cons: About as loud as a small shop-vac; A wheel kit would be nice because it's heavy when full of fuel, but this model doesn't come with one; The price needs to come down by about $50.00 in my opinion. Thought was a bit expensive and bought it anyway.
All in all, I use a cleaner kerosene substitute fround at Home Depot and the smell isn't too bad with a door cracked open. I also made a wood "furniture type" dolly with caster wheels to simply slide the heater around my garage floor with ease. Saves my already broken back!
I highly recommend this heater for garage/shop use if you want to go the kerosene route for heat. Also, it can run on diesel fuel for emergencies when kerosene isn't available.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by stu022488 I am not confident about this product at all
I researched kerosene heaters vs propane heaters quite a bit before this purchase. It was between this Dyna-Glo heater and one at Tractor Supply and I chose this one because it had a fuel gauge on it......Terrible decision I purchases low sulfur K1 Kerosene and put five gallons in. After about four hours of use, a huge puff of smoke came out and it went out. So then I turned the power off and clicked it back on at it started again. It continued and did it again a few hours later. I chalked it up to low fuel and finished off the day. Two months later I pulled this heater out and filled it up again with the same kerosene. It lit for about an hour than went out. It would not stay lit. It was to late to return this to Home Depot so I took it apart. There is a Pressure Regulator you can mess with using a screw driver and I had to turn the pressure way up with the hood off to get a good air mixture and it would stay lit for maybe 5 minutes than puff out. It took about two hours of this to finally get the air pressure right and than I put the hood back on and again it went out. Back to messing with the pressure regulator and I finally got it to stay lit at around 7 PSI. So it has stayed lit for a few hours now and is nice and toasty but I just do not trust this machine nor the quality.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by mxchamps lasted 10 minutes
I have had 2 of these. The first one was great and lasted all winter (I only used it a dozen times - maybe 40 hours total), but the ignighter went out. So I bought a new one. The fan sounded loud right off the bat, but got quieter after 5 minutes. I turned it off after runner it 10 minutes. A couple weeks later I fired it up in my freezing cold garage and the fan was struggling to go. It lit but mostly gave black smoke for a minute then quit. After that it wouldn't start. I am returning it today!
