How can I get the heater to run again

It's been since last winter we have used if it and now when we go to plug up it will run for a few seconds than off again I don't what to do??

Try cleaning the optical sensor with a q tip and rubbing alcohol. Make sure you align the sensor when putting it back in its bracket. Clean the electrode using a bit of sand paper to get all the soot off, and verify proper gap. Verify air pressure is at 4psi, though I've found mine works better at just a little under 4psi.

Will this run on diesel too?
Asked by: Grayslinky
That's all I usually run in mine. Way cheaper than kerosene. Just need to maintain it properly.

70,000 BTU Forced-Air Kerosene Heater is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective, Efficient and Easy I bought this to heat a large two-car garage, and it was almost overkill. The heater brought the garage from about 53 to 66 (F) in about 15 minutes of run time. The thermostat is pretty accurate and the heater does a good job of always keeping the garage within 2 degrees of my setting. Outside temperature was 33 degrees (F), and it kept the garage at 62 degrees all night long (while drywall mud dried), using only about 1.5 gallons of kerosene. Overall, I am very impressed with this unit!

I bought this thing 6 years ago when I first opened my shop. On cold days it's running for 12 hours straight. This is the sixth season so far. I've ran red and green diesel through it, kerosene, and even a little used engine oil.(heavily diluted) Just doing the maintenance like you're supposed(clean the nozzle, filters, electrode, optical sensor) keeps it running trouble free. I made a dolly for it that works perfect too, so don't have to pick it up ever time I want to move it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent heater for enclosed spaces Heater works well for enclosed spaces, such as garages, and event tents. I have had this heater for three years now and it has been very reliable. As long as you take care of it, and make sure the fuel pressure setting is set correctly, it should give you years of reliable service.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from lasted 10 minutes I have had 2 of these. The first one was great and lasted all winter (I only used it a dozen times - maybe 40 hours total), but the ignighter went out. So I bought a new one. The fan sounded loud right off the bat, but got quieter after 5 minutes. I turned it off after runner it 10 minutes. A couple weeks later I fired it up in my freezing cold garage and the fan was struggling to go. It lit but mostly gave black smoke for a minute then quit. After that it wouldn't start. I am returning it today!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME HEATER! I bought this heater for my 3 car garage when I'm doing my welding work and metal fabrication on cold days/nights. Here in SoCal, if the temp reaches down in the 30-40's at night, I was tired of always being too cold to weld. I bought this heater and can't believe how warm it makes the garage! I'm completely satisfied with it. The pros: Warms quickly; adjustable thermostat; draws very little electricity in case I want to connect it to a Honda EU2000 generator during power failures. Cons: About as loud as a small shop-vac; A wheel kit would be nice because it's heavy when full of fuel, but this model doesn't come with one; The price needs to come down by about $50.00 in my opinion. Thought was a bit expensive and bought it anyway. All in all, I use a cleaner kerosene substitute fround at Home Depot and the smell isn't too bad with a door cracked open. I also made a wood "furniture type" dolly with caster wheels to simply slide the heater around my garage floor with ease. Saves my already broken back! I highly recommend this heater for garage/shop use if you want to go the kerosene route for heat. Also, it can run on diesel fuel for emergencies when kerosene isn't available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as expected and was what we needed. We needed a new heater for an area of our shop and it worked perfectly as soon as we started it up. The instructions were clear and there were no problems. We will do business with Home Depot again

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I am not confident about this product at all I researched kerosene heaters vs propane heaters quite a bit before this purchase. It was between this Dyna-Glo heater and one at Tractor Supply and I chose this one because it had a fuel gauge on it......Terrible decision I purchases low sulfur K1 Kerosene and put five gallons in. After about four hours of use, a huge puff of smoke came out and it went out. So then I turned the power off and clicked it back on at it started again. It continued and did it again a few hours later. I chalked it up to low fuel and finished off the day. Two months later I pulled this heater out and filled it up again with the same kerosene. It lit for about an hour than went out. It would not stay lit. It was to late to return this to Home Depot so I took it apart. There is a Pressure Regulator you can mess with using a screw driver and I had to turn the pressure way up with the hood off to get a good air mixture and it would stay lit for maybe 5 minutes than puff out. It took about two hours of this to finally get the air pressure right and than I put the hood back on and again it went out. Back to messing with the pressure regulator and I finally got it to stay lit at around 7 PSI. So it has stayed lit for a few hours now and is nice and toasty but I just do not trust this machine nor the quality.
