Do you have to hire an electrician to hook it up, or install it? I don't do that sort of thing. Or do you just secure it to a wall? Talking about the motion light for $22.

Answer:
not necessarily. if you know how to turn off the breaker for the circuit where they are to be installed and can connect the black to black, and white to white wires with either wire nuts or crimped stub ended connectors onto the connected wires you should be fine.
following that, setting the unit in the test mode is fairly straight forward.

There is a little bit of wiring but it's very simple. Once power is turned off at the circuit breaker (and confirmed it is turned off by trying the power switch to that fixture to ensure it will not come on), you remove the old fixture and install the new by twisting wires together (black to black/ white to white and green to house ground). Hello need, I’m Newf from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question.
Light fixtures need to be both wired into the electrical system as well as secured to the wall/ceiling. If you are not comfortable with that then by all means have an electrician take care of that for you.
I hope this helps,
Newf.

Answer:
Make sure the sensor is not covered with any debris or objects causing the sensor to believe it is dark or night time. Also, if sensor was aimed up or controls were up and not down facing the ground (as illustrated in the operator manual), water could be inside the sensor causing malfunction.

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good function withspecific features I need. I have 5 of these specific motion lights that hang under the eves at each corner of the house . I put them up 12 years ago. Recently one failed. It was still functioning, but the sun caused the detector lens to fail and the bugs built a nest there. The 150 deg detection angle is what I need, but more importantly the light automatically resets itself if it is inadvertently triggered on by a power flicker. Very important when the house is a seasonal residence (6 mos at a time). A waste of energy and cost. I wanted to replace the failed one with exactly the same, but HD says it no longer caries this product in the stores (and Lowes does not carry it either) ??? But it is available from HD online. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Piece of Trash!!! These floodlights are a total piece of trash, they do not have enough cavity to allow for the wires and bulky screw on fasteners to bundle up on top, I had two choices, cut larger hole in my facia or attempt to bundle it together tight to get them to fit flush. As I tightened the screws the medal easily just busted open, so I threw this one aside and grabbed another, got it to fit a little better after shoving all wires into the hole and using Much smaller screw ons, got it installed and went to adjust bulb holder, very easily it just snapped off. THIS CHEAP METAL is JUNK!!!! Wasted lots of money!!! February 25, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Stops working in cold weather I installed 2 of these 3 years ago, last year one stopped working when the weather got cold (Seattle) so I replaced it. In the last couple of weeks both have developed the same problems. They work in test mode only, and the LED is indicating that the sensor is working. It just won't turn on under normal working conditions. They are installed according to the letter of the instructions and are ideally situated. The relays are obviously faulty. There are 2 more of these that are different make and model and have been on the house over 10 years that work without a hitch every time. Made in China. Not worth the hassle! November 18, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by installed easily but now after 2 years both quit installed a pair of these about 2 years ago and both (on the same circuit) quit working a couple of months ago (9/2014). verified 115V to both but neither will register movement via the red LED blinking or activating the floods. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick and overdue These (2 boxes) replaced my 30 yearold flood lights...not sure why such a delay, because, these are a great value for the price and work very well, especially when needed, too. Installation was a snap and I would definitely recomment these Zenith security lights to my fellow homeowners. February 8, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It is 2nd one I got, First one last for 1 year then it will come on and off crazy by itself, Replaced 2nd new one, . - It works but it doesn't trigger all the time, very strange products. - It seems have some delay after trigger - and re-trigger. January 15, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very easy to install Easy to install, works very good, no complaints so far. October 30, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install, works great! This was really easy to install in place of an existing light, and I like how it saves energy by having motion sensing. It's not gorgeous, but utilitarian. December 11, 2010
