Answer:
You can use a lower wattage bulb. The fixture is rated for a maximum of 500 watts. You will need to remove the old bulb out of the fixture and take it with you to the store. T3 halogen bulbs come in different lengths so you will need to make sure to get the same length in the lower wattage.

240-Degree Outdoor Motion-Sensing Security Light is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy piece of junk I have gone through 5 of these after initially buying 2 The right side socket for the bulb melts on every one. This is the one with the spring I have had them replaced by Heath/Zenith at no charge but it is an unreliable product and frustrating to have to always reinstall a new one If you ever need to change the bulb it is a nightmare to get the gasket for the glass to stay in the right place It will usually go when you need it most When it works it is very bright The motion sensor is a little too sensitive no matter where you set it

Rated 1 out of 5 by from don't buy Model # SL-5311-BZ Internet # 100645198 Store SKU # 919160 I agree with boss1000. I had the older model of this light for several years. The light lasted well, no rust, no shorts, until a month ago. As stated in the aforementioned review the sensor sucks. I just purchased a new one of the above model and found that the sensor is better, as far as Sensitivity goes it is better, but after nine days and of trying to adjust the sensor and dual lighting my son and I gave up. The light will go on and off about ever 90 seconds no mater if the sensor is set to min or max, the dual light setting can be on or off. Nothing changes except the dual light may come on first and then it goes to full brightness. No wind, no animals, no motion at all out side. Later today the light comes down and is going back to Home Depot. I don't think I want another Health/zenith product. Here I come Lowe's, maybe they have another brand in the 500watt lights. Bobkat00

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It took me a long time to finally get this thing up... and after a month the sensing area died. I have the same problem as bobkat00. The light turns on for 30 seconds and then off for 30 seconds. the sensor no longer lights up (there used to be a small red light that would come on when it sensed movement). Now I have to take this thing down and am out 40 bucks. Stay away from this thing. I wish they posted the online ratings at the store. Then i wouldn't have even bothered with this garbage.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped working correctly after a few months This product is horrible. I had it on my shelf for awhile and just installed a few months ago. It quit working so I thought it was the bulb. Started to remove the bulb and it clicked and went back on. After a few weeks it again stopped working so I figured the bulb either quit or slipped out of place. The socket on the right looks broke or something. The bulb looks good but on the one end is "burnt". I installed a new bulb and nothing. I decided to turn off power to light until I can get a new one or something better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Inexpensive but... Very poor quality. The motion sensor clamp does not tighten enough to keep it from just flopping around and the arm that the light is mounted to was crooked. Cheap, cheap, junk from China.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Light Gives off a soft night light and then comes on when it detects motion. Love it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from works great.. for a while installed on wall as a security light in a parking lot but after less than a year it stopped working. I tried changing light bulb and nothing. took it down and socket on the right (neutral ) was burned and wire was disconnected.
