Why doesn't it pickup someone walking towards it? ... it picks up someone walking across the yard but does not pick up someone walking towards or away from the sensor.

Answer:
As stated in instruction manual the sensor works best when motion is going from "side to side". Motion sensors in general can have a "blind spot" affect when motion approaches straight on in a direct line. To prevent this blind spot affect, suggestion would be to turn the sensor slightly to the left or right to create that motion as a "side to side".

I have a floodlight that would stay on with a very low light during the night and only comes on full power when the sensor is triggered by some motion.

Basically my driveway always have a low light and only gets a full light when something moves there. does this light work the same way? does it have a low light which is always on and the full power which comes on when motion detected?

It does. This light has the DualBrite feature which allows it to stay on at reduced brightness and then move to full bright when motion is detected. You can set the amount of time you want the light to stay on full bright after motion is detected to either 1, 5, or 20 minutes. It also has a test feature that allows you to set up the light during the day light. Hope this is helpful and thanks for your Read More

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Buy! I had an electrician install this light in my backyard. But, the light would spontaneously turn on and stay on. I had the electrician install a new replacement unit and the same thing happened. The electrician called the #800 number in the booklet and they said the unit only uses one type of incandescent bulb which is contrary to the specs on this site. I purchased and tried the recommended bulbs anyway, but the light would still spontaneously turn on and stay on. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the unit box from the first light installation so now I'm stuck with a useless light unit. This product is a complete waste of time and money!!! October 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great light for the price This matches brick very good easy to install and set up December 8, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by works not quite the way it claims The operation of the sensor is not quite as they claim. Sensitivity is hard to adjust. It sometimes stays on too long or too short after activation. Had to fiddle with the settings to make it work as I wanted. The plastic retaining nut that secures the head after aiming broke while tightening. It should be metal. October 26, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Light Stays on Photo cell failure I have 4 of these units and within just a couple of months 3 of the 4 started staying on all the time. Some days they turn off when it is light out, some days they do not. VERY unreliable. Wastes a lot of energy. Sadly, I purchased these at a store and the electrician did not keep any of the boxes. Home Depot should not carry such an inferior product. October 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great new security light This is my second identical light to install, found it very flexible to place, mount and wire. The threads to tighten each bulb in place need to be strengthened. It has perfect controls for differing needs in summer and winter. Great product! August 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Easy to understand, install, and set up. It works exactly as described. Because of features, it must use incandescent lamps, but the partial on feature is great. My wife loves that she now has her path lighted. Doesn't false trigger as easily as some other models. Very well done. May 3, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk I bought 3 of these and 2 failed within the first 5 months. One light simply just flashes on and off and the other just doesn't work. Buy RAB brand - much more expensive, but you wont be replacing this junk every few months. February 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Motion Security Light! Choose this one! This is the best security motion light you can buy! It works as it is specified on the box... When you use the dual brite mode it comes on at dusk and turns off at dawn, which is nice because it adds beauty and more security to your home... and it doesn't use full power when on Dual Brite mode it uses only 10% of the bulbs energy so the bulbs will last longer... So far I had this product for about 2 weeks and never had any problems... Great Product and i recommend this to any customers who want an excellent motion security light... November 9, 2009
