This light replaced a Heath-Zenith that I must have had for 10 years. After three months it has failed. I won't bother with another.

Mine came with a problem common with many of these units. Unit turns on then stays on. Reading directions carefully, repositioning sensor and lamps, etc etc. (I have electrical experience too.) Brand new and a total piece of junk. The real rub is that for any product like this there is real time and resources to install. The if it doesn't work, what then? Back up on the ladder and taking it all apart and down again? Then back to the store (another half hour and more gas) to try another piece of junk? We are not talking about a table lamp that doesn't work when you plug it in, right? Total piece of junk and a waste of time. Who is going to reimburse me for the time it took to install and then uninstall? And then what?

I purchase 3 of these lights and none of them have ever worked right. if I want them to go off I have to turn the light switch off for a few seconds and then turn it back on. The lights will come on and kick off after about 10 to 20 seconds. As soon as something triggers the motion sensors they are back on until i flip the switch. They even stay on in the day time. They really light up my driveway and yard, but the motion on/off feature is worthless. Don't waste your money.

Bought four units about 2 years ago to replace sensors that were nearly 20 years old and starting to fail. These units worked great for the first year after which they began to fail. Only one of the 4 still works. Red light senses motion but lights do not come on. Price looked attractive at the time but given I now need to replace the units, it would have been better to purchase a higher end unit.
Look for another brand. Would not recommend these.

My previous dual-brite lights finally failed after more than 10 years. The newer ones are better built and easier to install. I use dimmable LED Flood Lamps in my pool and patio area. The dual-brites allow me to keep the area illuminated at half brilliance until motion is detected, turning them on at full brilliance.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Some notable improvements over earlier model
Much improved except for the single screw mounting the cover to the bridge. I found it difficult to attach while standing on a ladder. The older design employed two screws that lined up with the surface mount box.
Not sure about the detachable shades though they do add to the sleekness of the design and offer more protection to the lamps.
The frosted shield on the light sensor of my old one disintegrated with age though it still worked. In thought it best to replace now. I replaced with this model because I like to the two light level features.

Purchased this unit to replace an older more expensive unit when the motion sensor failed. The unit lasted about 4 years and now is in need of replacement. Motion sensor failure is common as they burn out. The more active the area the quicker the burn out. Adjustment took a bit of time as the mounted location and the monitoring area where less then ideal. The adjustability of the lights made lighting the area sufficient. the adjustability of the motion sensor allowed me to monitor the area i wished, but not as completely as i would have liked (i needed it to adjust almost a full 90 degrees), but the wide angle of sensor coverage helped a lot. The dual light feature added a feature I had not previously had and it was great. I could light the area just slightly for a few hours, saving money, and still have full function for motion. I liked it enough to replace the burned out unit with another one.

I purchased this light to replace an existing light and had problems from the beginning, meanwhile I did some research on the manufactures website and found out per their troubleshooting procedures if there is a coil within the circuit your installing this light, you'll have problems. I contacted Heath Zenith and they sent me just a regular motion detector light without the DualBrite features. As per their troubleshooting guide: "INDUCTIVE PULL: Electrical devices that contain a coil will cause the light fixture to turn on without detecting motion if the device is on the same wiring circuit as the light fixture. Possible items that may trigger the fixture are: Ceiling fan, transformer, garage door opener, a fixture using a compact fluorescent (CFL) bulb (or any type of “energy saving” bulb), overhead fluorescent lighting, or an electrical device using a coil plugged into a receptacle on the same circuit. If the device with the inductive pull is not removed from the same circuit as the light fixture, it will eventually lead to the failure of the sensor and the light will stay on all the time or start flashing on and off. Follow the steps below to determine if there is an inductive! e pull on the same circuit." I do recommend this product, but get what is right for your application.
