Answer:
No, this item does not have a diode attached. If you have a wired doorbell with an electronic sound base (has a speaker) already on your home, then your current push button will have a diode that you can use. If you are looking to buy this push button as well as a new wired electronic doorbell, the doorbell unit will come with and included diode you can use.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Door Bell Easy to install, with backlight. Best value at Home Depot December 11, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by old one stopped working this works in pinch look for a better one looks and feels cheap. the straight slot screws are hard insert October 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy Purchase and Installation of Carpets We recently purchased carpeting for two of our bedrooms. Everyone we dealt with at The Home Depot was great, from the store employees to the outside installers. Once we made our decision, the process was as simple as setting up a date and having it installed in a matter of hours. We decided to move out the furniture and remove the old carpeting, which made for a much quicker installation. The guys who installed the carpeting were pleasant and, more importantly, very neat. We are thrilled with our new carpeting! August 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Door bell push button Easy to install works well. I would recommend this product. September 1, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Overpriced; low quality; flimsy; light bulb burns hole in plastic button; prone to distortion & failure; limited service life; embrittles, sticks down To summarize : Overpriced; poor quality; flimsy; light bulb burns a hole in plastic button which is prone to distortion and failure; limited service life; button also embrittles, sticks down and can ruin the doorbell. I have replaced this push button three times over several years — too often given its limited use. The heat of the incandescent light bulb inside the middle ultimately burns a hole in the center of the plastic button. In addition, the button becomes deformed, brittle and disintegrates in less than 3 years. Furthermore, the button can stick down in the ring position, consequently ruining the doorbell which will then also require complete replacing — I have had to do this twice. Consider buying another brand and quality of button so that you will not encounter the cost of replacing both the button and the doorbell connected to it within a few years. I have bought this button more than once because it fits the particular doorbell location and wiring, and it first came with the house. If I had the option of originally selecting a new button, I would never have chosen the Heath/Zenith DW-715. April 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to Install Simple to install, no complaints. It took just a couple minutes. August 5, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not happy bell gets stuck everytime some one pushes it and the bell hums July 8, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Brass Lighted Push Button Switch The switch looks good but the button plastic is either weak or gets burnt by the heat generated by the lamp lit all the time. It gets a hole right in the center over the light. So, just plan on replacing it again in a year or two. The Mfr has to make tiny vent holes on the upper sides (Not on top) and one in the bottom (For moisture to drain) to allow heat to escape. Still good value for money! August 26, 2012
