Customer Questions & Answers

Doorbell starts to ring and cuts off

I wired this according to the instructions but the doorbell doesn't work. I saw somewhere online that I need to use a diode but I am not sure what that is. I need help!
Asked by: Mavi30
If your doorbell has an electronic sound base and your new push button does not have a diode, then the tune will be cut off as not enough current is getting to it. If you still have your old push button, then you can take the diode out of it and use for your new push button. If you need to buy a new diode, you can search online for part number 1N4003. See the instruction image attached that should help you. If you have any further questions, please call our technical service dept. at 1-800-858-8501.

Won't stop ringing?

I attached one wire and I can't even attempt to connect 2nd wire as when it touches the screw the doorbell will not stop ringing? I am replacing a plastic builder grade push button doorbell where the plastic push button was cracked. Any thoughts?
Asked by: Jeep
Jeep, There is a short in the circuit somewhere and if the push button has been replaced then it would be in the wiring. New wiring would need to be run to correct that type of issue. If you need additional help with this question please contact our customer service at 1-800-858-8501. Mon-Fri 8am - 5 pm Central Standard.

Asked by: Yoey
The heading on the DW-923 is wrong. It is not a wireless push button. It is a wired push button. However, all Heath Zenith wireless push buttons and doorbells are compatible, so any Heath Zenith wireless push button you like will work with the DC-3360 doorbell.

Customer Reviews

Wired Push Button with Lighted Center in Pewter Finish is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This doorbell button is just perfect for a diy project The wireless doorbell button was easy to install and brought a 40 year old doorbell back to life. The fact that it lights up makes it so easy to see on the porch. We would definitely recommend it to others.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Below average The unit is friction fit together, making it quite difficult to connect wires and stay connected without popping loose. I like the look of it, but think it's poorly designed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple item and installation and the color was key for this purchase. This is slight in size so when replacing the item use caution in space and positioning, We made it work. Had recently updated outdoor lights, mailbox and an old doorbell stood out screaming to be replaced. There wasn't what I'll call a large selection but in the end this option fit the bill for the tight space and pre-cut hole it had to be positioned over. Like the color in the end and it works. Simple enough.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It is what it is Looking for an attractive metal doorbell...this is the one I picked up. The first one I bought looked great and was LED, but the button kept sticking. I returned it and got this one since it seemed to have a better spring mechanism that pushed the button back out after it was depressed. It's been about 4 months and I haven't had any issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy to install As it was to replace an old push button door bell, there was no problem in its installation. I have no idea how will it perform in a few years. It was a bit expensive for it is supposed to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very easy to install, looks great Got this to replace older door bell as had changed door knob on front door and wanted it to be a better match in color and style

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Get ready to use your drill Bought this as a replacement for the legacy doorbells on my 25 year old house. I was happy with the price at HD. If you are replacing non-lit doorbells, be ready to use your drill to form a hole for the lighted unit to fit. Otherwise, this will not be an easy installation. Otherwise, after forming the right size hole to fit the lit doorbell, wiring was easy. I have one doorbell exposed to the weather and one on the porch. I used a waterproof sealant for the exposed doorbell to prevent water entry and it looks like it was working without any issues.
