Affixing the button outside the storm door with the adhesive backing did not work at all. It kept falling off but with the heat I would imagine this would not be the best way to adhere to the wall. The next fete was to get it to chime. Had to return to the store and the associate was most helpful in figuring out what was wrong. I finally attached it to the outside door with the screws that were provided. This door chime works tremendously better that the previous one which operated on the electrical outlet, which went off without anyone touching it.

I had a wired door chime that needed to be replaced after 15 years of use. It was loud and clean sounding. Unfortunately, the wires in the wall were too short to install a new wired button, so I decided to try a wireless door chime rather than pay an electrician to do some re-wiring. The installation was simple, but the volume of the chime is so low that I can barely hear it across the room. It is completely useless. I installed the button outside (which involved drilling holes through the plastic mounting piece), so I don't feel comfortable taking it apart and returning it to the store. Therefore, this purchase was a total waste of money, and will go into the trash.

It makes no sound. Tried new batteries it still makes no sound. This is the seventh one that I have purchased. I bought the thing because I don't want to pay an electrician to come wire the house for a door bell and so far I have spent half of what it would cost to hire one.
When I am done hitting this one with a hammer I am just going to buy a cow bell and some string.
You would think that in the modern world things could be made to work right out of the box.
How hard can it be to make a door bell that works? I can start my car from inside my house but something as simple as a door bell can't be done.

Likely the worst product ever made. The reach isn't accurate and the adhesive for the bell is terrible (doesn't have a hole in the casing to drill it in). Bell fell down and had to replace twice, and I will not replace it a 3rd time. Not worth the time, money, or energy.

The Wireless Door Bell and chime kit is great. However HeathKit needs to rethink the buttons and find/engineer a button that looks like a wired button and fits into a standard electrical box. I say this due to the fact the wireless buttons cannot be mounted where a standard wired button was, without some kludgy/customization and the double-sided tape does not adhere to many surfaces.
