I purchased this product for an unorthodox use--my husband had just come home from the hospital and I thought this would be great for him to use as a call button for me. Unfortunately, it only rang once in a while--probably one time out of five times tried and it did not matter what the distance was of the ringer from the base. It would have been a great idea had it worked--did not bother trying a different unit just had to keep running back and forth to check on him. Returned the item with no hassle.

The unit is small , and well made. Utilizing batteries as a power source , eliminates the hassle of wiring .It works great. I would recommend it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by serna good for one level only
this is one of the cheapest wireless bells. Good only for one level apartments, since there is no way to adjust the volume to make it loud enough for the townhouse with 3 floors. Need to screw the button - the double tape is not holding it on place.

This item works perfectly. The only difficulty I had was trying to open the area where the battery is located. It is very difficult. As a matter of fact, I still cannot open it. I dread the time when the battery dies.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by sssteeve If doorbell rings by itself try changing the codes.
I have a similar model and when it was first installed it would ring when no one was at the door. I live in 4-plex and it turns out that my neighbor had one, too. I changed the codes from the factory default- problem solved!
I used to work for a home warranty company and replacing the wiring to a doorbell could be a real nightmare... I wish that these were around back then!
This is a basic entry level model and its performance will depend largely on the construction of your home. If it works, great! If not, then bring it back for a refund- you may need a more expensive unit with a stronger transmitter.
Heath Zenith does sell a SL-6157 wireless door bell extender kit to extend the range. BTW the maximum range quoted in the specs is under optimum conditions, possibly with the button and the chime in clear sight of each other. YMMV

This product is not even worth the apparent bargain price. It claims to work up to 100 feet from the button. not even close. Had to set bell right inside door. Kind of defeats the purpose of the bell since we want to hear from bedrooms(we can hear a knock if we are that close. The button comes with a piece of two sided tape to secure to your exterior. I have some wood trim where I attached the button. it stayed up for less than a day before the weight of the button pulled away from the two sided tape. tried again several times with same result. then tried to glue the button to the tape(did not want to try to glue the button to the wood and b=not be able to remove to change battery). No such luck. Still fell off in a few days. Before I could try again, the bell stopped working completely. Not sure if it had to do with the button falling off so many times or something else. I will be returning ASAP.
