I'm not sure if this is a totally different manufacturer and whether this part would work with an older model doorbell if it turns out there was just a merger/purchase.

Answer:
Did you match the frequency with the old button, there are little black plastic pieces, that make a connection between two pins (inside the button), they are called " jumpers". Match it to the old one.

Answer:
My Home Depot carries Heath/Zenith door bell systems which is what I have in my house.
When I needed a replacement button I checked on the back of the packages of door bell buttons on
display. The package tells you what that button is compatible with as well as well as the range the button. Perhaps the button you picked hasn't got enough range to reach the receiver bell. Hope this helps!

All Heath Zenith wireless doorbells and push buttons are compatible, so it's not an issue of "old" vs. "new". It sounds like you need to make sure the transmission security code is the same.

Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 33 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by wireles door bell replacement did not work The replacement door bell was defective and did not work. I put a new battery in my old bell button and it worked fine. The battery was not the problem, because the new battery did not work in th ew new chime button. December 9, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Would not work with our doorbell Followed direction an it wouldn't work with our bell December 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy to order, exactly as described... Perfect replacement, even comes with the battery! Matched the jumpers and it worked first time. easy install October 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by use these often! I own a business and we like to keep the door locked for security. I am a woman and not very good with electricity and the wireless system is perfect!! September 29, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Close but not powerful This button works with the chimes but has so little power can't place too far away. September 2, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No door bell This item was purchased for it's announced range. The transmitter does control the door bell more then 10 feet away. Tried relocating the push buttons but could not get anymore then 20 feet but only in a straight line. I returned the items and purchased a better set. June 30, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mounting problems Bought the Heath Zenith door chime. Mounted as per instructions. Front door works okay. Back door was intermittent and was prone to being pried of with children's fingers. Remounted it using screws and the button ceased to operate. Took it off and worked again, intermittently. Time to read the trouble shooting manual, with the aid of a magnifying glass. Lo and behold there I found the problem. Do Not Mount on Metal. How many door frames are made of metal these days. The Warning might have been some use if it was in the 'installation' section of the manual. Now I have a Heath/Zenith wireless door chime that works for the front door, cannot and will not work at the back door. But I do have two nice holes in the back door frame as reminder of my folly.. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement for Broken Part The doorbell was made by a company that had gone out of business. Home Depot had taken over the doorbell and its parts, and I was able to get the replacement push button part online from Home Depot. The delivery was quick and on time, and it now works perfectly.
