Answer:
scooby-No, we would not recommend this product for that application. We suggest a concrete or mortar repair product. Thank you for putting your trust in the Henry Company and The Home Depot.

I am repairing a leak around a metal chimney on asphalt roof. I live in a harsh winter climate. Would this 208R repair work alright or should I use the 209 product?

Answer:
I would recommend the 209 over the 208r. The metal to asphalt connection is tough since the metal expands/contracts so much more than the asphalt roof. 209 is designed for expansion joints like yours. Also, the 209 is designed to work from -20 degrees F, (0 degrees F for the 208r), and has a special rubber which will make it adhere better in the cold.

Answer:
For harsh winter, I would recommend the Henry 209 Extreme Wet Patch. It has a wider temperature range, so can be applied in colder weather. It also has more rubber than the Henry 208R, so it will expand and contract more when your weather gets warmer. Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best roof patch This material is very easy to work with. It comes out of the can using a trowel without any problem. Other brands are thicker and very hard to get out especially when cold. It adheres good, it is easy to spread and seems to hold up well. June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great stuff, but pricey I actually used this on the roof of my 2003 Expedition due to rust spots and water leaks. Fixing it correctly and replacing a rusted truck roof is my last priority right now. Other than being pricey and a bit messy, the Henry premium sealant seems to be holding up and has solved the problem so far. Color matches to Ford black nicely enough. February 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great! I used this to seal the joint where a structure's very low-slope roof is butted up against the wall of a taller corrugated metal building. It fixed what the flashing was still somehow letting get by. February 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great sealant We used it on the leaks on the roof. No issues so far so I think it did its job! February 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quality Product A contractor suggested I avoid purchasing this product from HD, because I could get much better quality from a roofing supply store or online. I went to HD anyway and purchased this. It was very easy to apply, and seems to have set up with a very good bond. It fixed my roof leak problem around my chimney. I don't know how long it will last, which is the only reason I couldn't give it an excellent rating. December 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works really great on sealing roof problems on my trailer Sealed all cracks and sections that needed to be sealed effectively and with little effort August 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good stuff This stuff works really, really well. Since we were in the midst of everyday rainstorms, I needed something to repair leaks that didn't need time to dry. Easy to use and effective. June 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great purchase spreads like butter easy to work with. a little pricy but well worth it May 5, 2015
