Product Overview

Henry 587 Durabrite white elastomeric roof coating is a premium, high-solids formula offering better weather protection, solar reflectivity and longevity than economy-grade reflective roof coatings. The cured coating forms a permeable membrane that prevents liquid infiltration but allows moisture vapor to vent or breathe out of underlying substrate. As an ENERGY STAR partner, Henry has determined that this product meets the ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy efficiency.

Customer Questions & Answers

Does this product seal as well? I have a tin roof that leaks at the seams.

I just assembled a 20' x 22' porch roof of A G tin. It leaks at the joints during a hard rain. Will this product seal as well? Thanks, David T.
Asked by: DOBZNZ
Hello Dobznz, Yes, but I suggest prepping the tin for a good adhesion. Wash with broom & bucket with 1 qt of straight Vinegar mixed with 1 Gallon water & scrub the entire roof & rinse well & allow to dry. Then, an only then would I start applying the Tropi-Cool. This will do Great for your needs. Hope this Helped.

airless sprayer

Has anybody used an airless sprayer to apply Henry 587?
Asked by: richard
Being an elastomeric product, it requires a commercial grade sprayer (2HP or more) that can generate 2,500 (prefer 3,000) PSI. But Henry needs to provide the correct information to select spray nozzle size to match the compound. Its no different than using an elastomeric stucco paint (I use a Behr stucco paint that requires minimum 3,000 psi). Its much easier and a more consistent thickness (base on skill of application). Per GRACO manufacturing, their recommended minumum sprayer is a 695, so use that as a reference.

Hi, I'm looking for a product that I can use to seal seams of dissimilar products on my home. i.e. wood to stucco, wood to flashing, stucco to aluminum. Remodeling\demolition of the area will be cost prohibitive. Also it needs to be layer-able and paintable.
Asked by: Rob
Hello Rob, glad to help. I would use the Henry Tropi-Cool seam repair & sealant. I would also use yellow seam mesh tape along with some caulking. Included Pictures below for your reference. Hope this helped.

What is the difference between 587 and287

Asked by: don
Don-The 287 is our 'opening' white coating, which carries a 7 year warranty. The 587 is considered our mid-grade, having a 10 year warranty. Additionally, the aged reflectivity will be a bit higher with the 587. Please let us know if you have any additional questions and thank you for putting your trust in the Henry Company and The Home Depot.

This is the 2nd time I've applied elastomeric to my roof. The first application was several years ago. I haven't had any leaks so it must be working okay. My problem now is getting it up on the roof. I split the 5 gallons into another bucket. My lifting power at 84 isn't as good as it was the first time.

I power washed the roof first than apply the coating. You could feel the difference in temp with you hand. I did two coats and the room is cooler now but that was not why i did it. The roof was a granular roll type and it was about 10yr old getting dried out with cracks. Now it should last another 10yr. AAAA +++++

It was dry by the time I finished the first coat. The second coat went on much quicker since the first coat filled in all the roughness of the old rolled roofing it was covering. Looks good. Have to see if it will hold up to the 10 year warranty.

It is also deceptively expensive because it comes in a 4.75, rather than 5 gallon, container. It does not have as high solids as other, less expensive products which come in full 5 gallon containers. This product is not very easy to use. After using a pail of it, I drove well out of my way to purchase a different product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repaired old roof I used this product to repair a leaky rubberized asphalt roll roof. It is a flat roof with little pitch and minor ponding of water. I first tried to fill and level the low spots with the solvent based fibered asphalt and still had leaks. I then used #107 water based asphalt as a primer and base for #587 white roof paint and did the whole roof, I reinforced with the recomended polyester roofing fabric and top coated with two coats of the paint. After six months and quite a few thunder storms and heavy rains I am confident this roof will last many years. No more leaks at all. As an added benefit this system reduces interior and roof temperatures.
