Customer Questions & Answers

Does this product seal as well? I have a tin roof that leaks at the seams.

I just assembled a 20' x 22' porch roof of A G tin. It leaks at the joints during a hard rain. Will this product seal as well? Thanks, David T.
Asked by: DOBZNZ
Hello Dobznz, Yes, but I suggest prepping the tin for a good adhesion. Wash with broom & bucket with 1 qt of straight Vinegar mixed with 1 Gallon water & scrub the entire roof & rinse well & allow to dry. Then, an only then would I start applying the Tropi-Cool. This will do Great for your needs. Hope this Helped.

airless sprayer

Has anybody used an airless sprayer to apply Henry 587?
Asked by: richard
Being an elastomeric product, it requires a commercial grade sprayer (2HP or more) that can generate 2,500 (prefer 3,000) PSI. But Henry needs to provide the correct information to select spray nozzle size to match the compound. Its no different than using an elastomeric stucco paint (I use a Behr stucco paint that requires minimum 3,000 psi). Its much easier and a more consistent thickness (base on skill of application). Per GRACO manufacturing, their recommended minumum sprayer is a 695, so use that as a reference.

Does the coating breakdown, in North Eastern U.S, with snow piled on the roof, where the layer of snow in contact with the roof surface is moist/wet due to heat in the attic warming the roof.

I live in AS. I use this over asphalt rolled roofing on low angle patio roofs. I have never noticed an effect by the heat, or the cold. Lowest temp here in 10 years was 17 degrees F. I re-apply about every 5 years. Makes for a good walk on surface for a deck on a patio roof.

Hi, I'm looking for a product that I can use to seal seams of dissimilar products on my home. i.e. wood to stucco, wood to flashing, stucco to aluminum. Remodeling\demolition of the area will be cost prohibitive. Also it needs to be layer-able and paintable.
Asked by: Rob
Hello Rob, glad to help. I would use the Henry Tropi-Cool seam repair & sealant. I would also use yellow seam mesh tape along with some caulking. Included Pictures below for your reference. Hope this helped.

This is the 2nd time I've applied elastomeric to my roof. The first application was several years ago. I haven't had any leaks so it must be working okay. My problem now is getting it up on the roof. I split the 5 gallons into another bucket. My lifting power at 84 isn't as good as it was the first time.

I power washed the roof first than apply the coating. You could feel the difference in temp with you hand. I did two coats and the room is cooler now but that was not why i did it. The roof was a granular roll type and it was about 10yr old getting dried out with cracks. Now it should last another 10yr. AAAA +++++

It was dry by the time I finished the first coat. The second coat went on much quicker since the first coat filled in all the roughness of the old rolled roofing it was covering. Looks good. Have to see if it will hold up to the 10 year warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repaired old roof I used this product to repair a leaky rubberized asphalt roll roof. It is a flat roof with little pitch and minor ponding of water. I first tried to fill and level the low spots with the solvent based fibered asphalt and still had leaks. I then used #107 water based asphalt as a primer and base for #587 white roof paint and did the whole roof, I reinforced with the recomended polyester roofing fabric and top coated with two coats of the paint. After six months and quite a few thunder storms and heavy rains I am confident this roof will last many years. No more leaks at all. As an added benefit this system reduces interior and roof temperatures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellant product In South Texas the sun is hot. I applied Henry 875 over another quality coating, responding to their claims for reflectivity and flexibility. The new coating has been in place for only two weeks, so the flexibility factor is yet to be tested. The reflectivity factor shows amazing results in my 8 x 10 workshop, lowering the midday temperature 5 -6 degrees from the previous gray coating. I'm awaiting my first month's electric bill for my mobile home, but based on the workshop results, expect it to be 5-8% lower. The extra cost of the 587 seems well worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 587 roof coating - great I have two flat roofs over covered porches on the south side of my house. The builder did a good job with whoever the roofing sub was but with 5 years on the roof in Phoenix (where my digital temp gun measured 165 degrees off the surface in July) I decided to use the Henry 587 white product. I vacuumed the surface and hosed down all loose and imbedded dirt. After letting it dry all day, the next morning I rolled on the product using a regular paint roller with a thick nap head. I had a small area where some minor ponding had taken place so I gave it two coats there. I also gave two coats over the seams of the roofing rolled material. It has been one year and no problems and the surface shows 125 degrees during July. I think it is a great product.
