I am confused on the Henry Company answer. Why they do not recommend this product? Everything I have read says it is perfect for metal roof. Please explain..

Can this be used on a car trailer tin roof

Have a 24 foot enclosed car trailer with alum roof can this product be used for that ?
Asked by: DC
DC-No, we would not recommend that. The only coating we would recommend for that type of application would be our 887 Tropi-Cool 100% Silicone White Roof Coating. I have included a link below for you that contains more information as well as several instructional videos. Thank you for putting your trust in the Henry Company and The Home Depot. http://us.henry.com/roofing/reflective-coatings/white-roof-coatings/887-tropi-cool-100-silicone-white-roof-coating

Does this product seal as well? I have a tin roof that leaks at the seams.

I just assembled a 20' x 22' porch roof of A G tin. It leaks at the joints during a hard rain. Will this product seal as well? Thanks, David T.
Asked by: DOBZNZ
Hello Dobznz, Yes, but I suggest prepping the tin for a good adhesion. Wash with broom & bucket with 1 qt of straight Vinegar mixed with 1 Gallon water & scrub the entire roof & rinse well & allow to dry. Then, an only then would I start applying the Tropi-Cool. This will do Great for your needs. Hope this Helped.

Can you have a colorant added to this paint?

This would go on a metal roof in the Virgin Islands
Asked by: BobR
WHY would you add a colorant? It's white for a reason as that is the most reflective color there is and helps reduce cooling costs. Plus it's not paint so I don't imagine they formulated it to have anything added to it. But if you insist I would think that a dry/powder colorant could be mixed in to add color without messing with the basic formula that makes it tough enough to last years. It would need to be UV resistant so it won't fade, but then adding color changes it's reflective nature and might affect its durability, idk. Best bet is to as the manufacturer directly as I'm sure it's not something HD would know.

I power washed the roof first than apply the coating. You could feel the difference in temp with you hand. I did two coats and the room is cooler now but that was not why i did it. The roof was a granular roll type and it was about 10yr old getting dried out with cracks. Now it should last another 10yr. AAAA +++++

It was dry by the time I finished the first coat. The second coat went on much quicker since the first coat filled in all the roughness of the old rolled roofing it was covering. Looks good. Have to see if it will hold up to the 10 year warranty.

This is the 2nd time I've applied elastomeric to my roof. The first application was several years ago. I haven't had any leaks so it must be working okay. My problem now is getting it up on the roof. I split the 5 gallons into another bucket. My lifting power at 84 isn't as good as it was the first time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repaired old roof I used this product to repair a leaky rubberized asphalt roll roof. It is a flat roof with little pitch and minor ponding of water. I first tried to fill and level the low spots with the solvent based fibered asphalt and still had leaks. I then used #107 water based asphalt as a primer and base for #587 white roof paint and did the whole roof, I reinforced with the recomended polyester roofing fabric and top coated with two coats of the paint. After six months and quite a few thunder storms and heavy rains I am confident this roof will last many years. No more leaks at all. As an added benefit this system reduces interior and roof temperatures.

I shouldn't have cause the next day I went around touching up cracks that didn't fill. Looking to get another 5gal pail to put a final finish coat. So far so good with one but another won't hurt.

I live in los angeles where the sun is hot. my room is a 24x26' room with a flat beam roof. ceiling is 10' high to 12'. the room has a 15000 btu ac and even running all day the room would never get more the 10-15 degrees cooler then the outside. and there are many days where its 95 to 110 degrees outside. I put henry 587 white roof on two coats it went on so easy and covered potential cracks very well. it took two buckets to cover the roof very well. I am so happy and pleased. There has already been 100 degree days and my room stays as cool as i set the thermostat on the ac all the way down to 62 degrees. I should have done this years ago it was so affordable for the difference it creates. I cant wait for winter i'm thinking this stuff will also help keep the cold out and the heat in. buy this stuff. I put in on with a 3/4 inc roller. in 85 degree weather with the roller on a pole. wear latex gloves so you can pull any small stones or debris out of the roller. do one coat each day. dip the roller right into the bucket. have a small trashcan and latex glove box and a couple of rags with you and go to town. its nice and thick . i mixed it with a 1x2 for about 3 minutes
