Can wood flooring be glued to this product?

I need to level my second floor game room so that I can install Bamboo flooring. I would like to glue the flooring down. Would I be able to do that if I use this product to level the sub-floor?
Asked by: JimJim45
Wood floors within wood structures experience movement with changes in temp, moisture and settlement. In my 42 years of installing floors I have found a lot of fractured floor patches under existing floor covering. Remember, any glued down floor covering is only as stable as the very next surface to which it is glued. New wood floors also need to be installed according to specs of spacing and flatness. Plus you need to be sensitive to the direction of joists and unique conditions of the existing floor covering. Removal of existing floor covering (and usually it's underlayment) is an extra effort but just may be the quickest way to do a long lasting job. Unlike any other feature in any room, the floor is always in use . You may get away with short cuts on the walls and ceiling but not on your walking surface. TomTee

Is this self-leveling? The website product description says that it is, but it doesn't appear to say that on the bag and the video shows a thick mix that would not be able to level itself.

No, this is not self-leveling.

use on vinyl

Can this be used over a vinyl picnic table?
Asked by: peabodymom
I doubt it's a good idea. Vinyl is too flexible and if you're using it in an exterior setting the heat will make the vinyl expand and contract more than the patch material can keep up with. I could see it cracking and falling off.

After filling in the low spots and curing it didn't take much to crack and separate from the wood after walking on it. I ended up tearing out and rebuilding the subfloor in order to have the surface I needed for a tiled finish floor.

The product works well but if I was to do it again I would have mixed 1/4 to 1/2 a bag at a time and slowly built up the thickness. This stuff starts setting as soon as you stop mixing it. As long as you keep working it with the trowel it stays pliable but you have to work fast. It's good up to 1/2" thickness so it is high build but I suggest mixing a small batch then working it to a level below where you need it to be. Let it setup a little, take more measurments, mix some more and go again. It will take longer but it will be more accurate. With a decent float and some work it comes out super smooth. Good product.

To get the flatness I needed over plywood on joists , I had to lay down several layers and in the end it cracked. The wood was primed twice with the appropriate latex primer. It'l do.

Was ok, but not as easy to work with as the Level Quick I used a few years ago. However, I only had a small area that needed leveled, so i went with this. I would recommend Level Quick over this. Time will tell if it turns out as brittle as the Level Quick after 10+ years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Henry 547 patch and skim coat. Overall a good, inexpensive patch. A little lumpy, but not too difficult to smooth. I would add a little bond enhancer if installing vinyl over the top.
