Answer:
I don't know about this cement specifically, but firebrick and cement has a high aluminum content, and this may leech into the food.
I would not suggest this for any direct contact with food, especially any that may be slightly acidic.

This was recommended as an alternative to refractory mortar, which HD no longer carries, so I used it to bond a series of fire bricks edge to edge to close off the top front of my firebox. I wet the edges, laid it on, set them together, let them set up for an hour or so, then baked it all day over a 250F fire, and the stuff has about as much bond strength as chewing gum. It can be used to seal gaps and fill cracks, but is utterly worthless as an adhesive.

I troweled-on the product after cleaning all of the surfaces inside the Zero-clearance firebox. Then I lit a fire and waited for about an hour. The Furnace Cement cured beautifully and now, I don't have to replace the sheets of firebrick. This product is easy to use, if you follow the simple directions on the container, easy to clean-up with soap and water, and looks like it will last for a long time. I have already recommended this product to my brother-in-law and I will continue to recommend it.

The product is a good product, but the instructions for curing are incomplete. When I called the company they were out of business and another company bought them out. Hopefully they will include an instruction sheet in the future on how to cure the drying.
