Has a slightly gritty texture which concerned me a bit but I went ahead and used it anyway to "seal" (ha-ha) the threads on the outlet tube at the bottom of the fuel tank of an old family-heirloom 1972 VW Beetle since it specifically CLAIMS to be suitable for gasoline among other things and everyone told me that the regular teflon tape I had handy either wouldn't work or would actually dissolve. I then let it sit for a couple of hours as an extra precaution, then proceeded to add gas, about 1/2 gallon at a time every 10 minutes or so to check for leaks. Seemed ok after about an hour so I took it for a test drive. About an hour after returning I smelled gasoline while walking past it, and upon looking underneath found a GEYSER of a leak. It's a simple gravity feed, not only under NO pressure, but on the SUCTION side of the fuel pump. AVOID!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great stuff! Initally tried teflon tape on the threaded connections on my water meter. 3 of the 4 joints dripped. Then I used this putty, and all connections sealed perfectly. Great stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works better than Teflon tape, so far no leaks, whereas leaks occur right away with Teflon tape. Works better than Teflon tape, so far no leaks, whereas leaks occur right away with Teflon tape.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Success Where Teflon Tape Failed Tried this product after multiple failed attempts with teflon tape for brass-to-brass and brass-to-steel pipe thread joints during a DIY shower installation. In addition to Sharkbite fittings, this Real-Tuff joint sealing compound is now on my DIY plumbing must-haves list.
