Customer Reviews

1 oz. Megaloc Thread Sealant Tube is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from sealed air hose connections with ease I used this to connect new fittings to my air compressor, air hose reel, multiple air tools and a separate standalone air hose. I did notice, as did another reviewer, a clear fluid had separated from the main paste in the tube so I capped it, and massaged the tube up and down to get it mixed well. I doubt that really made any difference though and think it would have worked fine if I just drained the fluid first. Then I squeezed the paste out onto the male ends of each fitting like toothpaste. No trouble getting it to stick to the threads, maybe because I put on a little more than probably necessary. Tightened up each connection real good, wiped off the excess, and no leaks so far. Tested my system overnite - left everything pressurized at 100psi from 10pm until 8am the following morning and no noticeable pressure loss on my gauges.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a charm I used the product on a PVC drain connection which otherwise was leaky. It worked perfectly, highly recommended.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Will not buy again. This joint sealant is difficult to work with... An amber liquid separated from the fibrous component and the blue paste, and it does not adhere well to the threads. I used it on a variety of threaded joints for water and compressed air... all plastic, plastic into metal and all metal, and several of the joints required dis-assembly and reapplication of Megaloc to get it to seal, or the addition of some PTFE tape. Since it did not adhere well to the threads and was not homogeneous, the fibers pushed the paste out of the threads and not much sealant was left to make the seal. Best results were obtained when Megaloc was worked into the clean male threads and then covered with a couple wraps of PTFE tape to hold it in place when tightening the joint. That is the most reliable method for sealing metal threads no matter what kind of pipe dope is used. Bottom line, I don't recommend the Megaloc because there are better products on the market. It wipes off cleanly with a dry cloth as stated on the package, but that is not really a good characteristic for a thread sealant.
