Product Overview

Cork flooring combines the beauty of a natural and truly renewable material with the comfort of a cushioned, warm and silent surface. It is highly sustainable since the cork oak trees are not cut. Only the outer bark is harvested and it will grow again each 9 years. The new narrow and beveled plank format creates a more appealing and elegant look than traditional cork floors that are made in large panels. Cork flooring is warm underfoot, comfortable and soft to walk on, anti-microbial, fire and moisture resistant and provides unrivalled noise reduction properties. Installation is made easy with the precision milled glueless locking system. This floor features an integrated underlayment made out of cork. Easy maintenance: simply vacuum. Prefinished cork requires no additional sealing after installation. Warm to the touch and resilient, cork floors are a great addition to your home. Ideal for all levels of installation. This floor qualifies for 4 LEED points: (1) EQ4.3 (Indoor Environmental Quality) Low Emitting, (2) MR 4.1 (Materials and Resources) Recycled Content, (3) MR 6-Rapidly Renewable Materials, (4) ID 1-Innovation in Design.

Customer Questions & Answers

Is the pattern of the Burnished Straw Plank Cork planks printed on or are they the natural bark grain?

Asked by: Anonymous
Definitely natural bark grain and texture.

can cork flooring be used in a bathroom?

Asked by: Anonymous
The cork itself handles moisture well, but I would only install it if I thought I could prevent moisture from getting under the flooring and causing mold or rot. With a good toilet seal, good bathroom ventilation, and an eye toward leaving as much water as possible in the tub or shower, I'd say yes.

Can this cork flooring be put down over an existing linoleum kitchen floor and if so should I put down barrier sheet over linoleum?

Asked by: Anonymous
Probably, but consult the flooring manufacturer to be sure, and follow any recommendations they may have. When in doubt, ALWAYS check first.

vapor barrier really needed?

I plan to replace family room carpet with this cork flooring. Currently pad and carpet over slab, no vapor barrier. No issues with moisture, floor is fine. Do I really need vapor barrier as recommended under this flooring?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, a minimum 6 milimeter polyethylene sheeting is required under all floors being installed over concrete slabs. Carpet/pad will let vapor pass through freely; hardwood and cork floors will hold moisture eminating from the slab, resulting in swelling, buckling, etc. Failure to install a proper vapor barrier will void warranty coverage on the product.

This was not a not a minor lot variation. Was trying to match an existing installation of the same product. Tried to contact manufacturer to see if color formulation was changed but got no response. Home Depot professional in flooring was totally useless. See photo for color variation. Plank on the right was from previous installation and is a close match to the stock photo. The plank on the left is what was delivered (and it was labeled as Burnished Straw, so not a case of wrong product being sent).

Bought this cork flooring and installed it in my basement specifically because it was featured as not being subject to various issues like mold mildew etc....$750 wasted- couple months later it bowed and warped ALL OVER. What a waist. There was no flood, it was over the winter rather than summer. It's like a fun house floor and removing it all is no fun at all. Perhaps it fine for a living room, but without the tightest control over the temp and I'm guessing slight fluctuations of humidity, it's just money and time I regret

Don't ever get it wet it will absorb the water and swell up like a sponge. STEER CLEAR OF THIS PRODUCT. ITS GARBAGE. Had a sink backup got the floor wet had to replace the entire floor I spent over $1500 for. spend the xtra cash for a better floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install, nice looking floor I was skeptical about cork flooring, but my wife talked me into it. I must say, now that its installed, I love the result! I installed this floor in a large great room -- about 450 square feet. The installation was easy. The product has a built-in cork underlay, so no additional foam underlay was needed. which saved time. The planks seemed lighter weight than some other laminate floors I've installed, it was easy to cut, and easy to click together. The floor looks beautiful. It looks like a rich, exotic wood floor, yet it is VERY comfortable to walk on, and easy to keep clean, too !

We put this product in up stairs bathroom it was easy to install but it's not water restance after only six months the seams are starting to open up and the surface scratches up very easily otherwise it's somewhat soft and quiet I would not use anywhere water drips on it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I expected the floor to look decent but I must say it has exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for a flooring option that is durable, provides a great looking appearance, and is easy to install then this flooring is for you. I highly recommend it.
