Product Overview

Cork flooring combines the beauty of a natural and truly renewable material with the comfort of a cushioned, warm and silent surface. It is highly sustainable since the cork oak trees are not cut. Only the outer bark is harvested and it will grow again each 9 years. The new narrow and beveled plank format creates a more appealing and elegant look than traditional cork floors that are made in large panels. Cork flooring is warm underfoot, comfortable and soft to walk on, anti-microbial, fire and moisture resistant and provides unrivalled noise reduction properties. Installation is made easy with the precision milled glueless locking system. This floor features an integrated underlayment made out of cork. Easy maintenance: simply vacuum. Prefinished cork requires no additional sealing after installation. Warm to the touch and resilient, cork floors are a great addition to your home. Ideal for all levels of installation. This floor qualifies for 4 LEED points: (1) EQ4.3 (Indoor Environmental Quality) Low Emitting, (2) MR 4.1 (Materials and Resources) Recycled Content, (3) MR 6-Rapidly Renewable Materials, (4) ID 1-Innovation in Design.

Answer:
Directly on concrete is fine, but it is always a good idea to lay down a moisture barrier of some sort of plastic when going onto concrete.

Answer:
There seems to be a very thin protective clear coating on the surface of the cork. We will have to wait and see over time how the finish holds up. We have read that a vinegar and water solution is the best way to clean it. Also, regular sweeping is the best maintenance.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cobblestone plank We don't like them after looking at them we will be returning them the only problem they have to be returned by UPS and it is a 30 minute drive one way August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this floor! When we purchased this floor, I was a little concerned. This was quite a departure from our previous solid wood floor purchases, but we wanted to tackle something new. This was just the thing. The floor is a breeze to install and goes down extremely quickly. The fact that it is cork above and below is great for both sound absorption and wear & tear resistance. The floor has just a little bit of give to make if feel a little warmer and more inviting than a traditional wood floor. Another benefit is that with this particular style, there is very little waste. April 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great flooring. We used this in two closets; came out lovely and is easy to clean. March 29, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bautiful and comfortable Looks beautiful in my small kitchen remodel. I'm in the kitchen a lot and I need something underfoot that has some "give" to help my feet and back. This flooring is delivering - it's much more comfortable than my last kitchen which was tile. I went with Millstead's (Tarkett, right?) cork because it is supposed to off-gas less nasty stuff too. Some movers did already abrade it a bit when they moved the fridge in for me and I am disappointed with that. I need to find out if I need to seal it back up but it's not anything visually obvious - In fact, because of all the natural variation in the cork, and additionally the way this "cobblestone" style is designed, not much is going to show on it. I really love the look. It also seems true to style and era for this smaller 1940's kitchen. I like the Retro. September 26, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by My customer loves the look & feel. Only 4 stars overall because there was no cleaning care instructions with the product. The package info tells you to call a toll free number for recommended cleaner. Thought that was weird. Otherwise, product was perfectly milled, installed quickly, and out of 91 boxes there was only 1 plank that was a clear factory defect. Can't give 5 stars yet on quality until I get some feedback on durability from the homeowner. October 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great looking product Good looking, high quality material. Like most snap and click flooring it was a little challenging fitting the last pieces against the wall. March 24, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very disappointed with this product. This was a big disappointment. material was not uniformly straight. some of the tongues were broken off. It did not butt up right. When the planks were not curved they went together very nice, but that was not the norm. I did finish the floor but if I had it to do again I should have returned the whole mess. The concept is great. It is just that the fit is not perfect. To me it is in the milling of the planks. It looks like they were not inspected at all and that perhaps the milling was off kilter or something. I never complained to the company because the floor was all down and my wife said, "I guess we can live with it." I didn't want the hassle of trying to return it after I had put it all down. I am reminded of it every day when I walk in my stocking feet on the floor and feel the unevenness and the gaps in it. August 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great Installed in sewing room and the product looks and feels great. Could use a little better packaging as some boards were damaged in shipping but not wasted just used where I had to cut pieces. Would recommend removing and installing new baseboards at the same time as it makes installation easier and look great. Considering this for other rooms in the house. Unfortunately Home Depot server times out when I try to upload photos. October 2, 2014
